Question for those on Lovenox...
So I'm 31 weeks pregnant now and I still don't know what's going on with the plan for my labor, if I'll be induced or not. My hematologist says she wants to switch me from Lovenox to Heparin at week 36 and then wait for me to go naturally and I'll be able to get the epidural. I was thinking that I'd prefer to stay on Lovenox and be induced, but let's say they plan to induce me 1 week early...if I go 2 weeks early, doesn't that mean I can't get an epidural? I don't know what to do. What is everyone else doing that is on Lovenox?

I'm pretty sure you cannot get the epi if you are on Lovenox. You raise a great question though, I'm going to ask.

Re: Question for those on Lovenox...
I was told that I was going to be induced anywhere from a week-2 weeks early. I believe that they are taking me off of the Lovenox towards the end so that I can have an epidural.
I am not exactly sure if I am being put on something else in place of the Lovenox.

Re: Question for those on Lovenox...
They will take you off Lovenox and put you on Heparin. From what I know heparin has a reverse agent they can give you Lovenox does not. So if you go into early labor with Lovenox you may not be able to get the epi. I woudl probably want to be on Heparin around 36 weeks on. My sister just did this. You can FM her Stephanief

If you are on the lovenox when you go into labor, you cannot get the epidural, I was switched to heparin 3 weeks before my due date

Re: Question for those on Lovenox...
I am switching from Lovenox to Heparin at 36 weeks....God forbid I have to have a c-section, you don't want to be on a blood thinner that is in your system for so long.
Can I ask why you don't want to switch????
