Question for those that have seen "Gone Baby Gone" (spoiler of sorts)
DH and I watched this last night. And i keep going back and forth as to what i would have done for the Amanda if i were put in that situation.
Would you have sent her back to her mom...a woman who you obviously didnt care about her kid and was more interested in drugs...or would you let her stay with the man that kidnapped her but she seems quite happy with and would get the love and attention a child needs.
i felt so sad for her in the end.

FH and I were struggling with what we would do too. It's tough because there are pros and cons to both sides of the coin.
good movie, right?
Did you guys think it ended after the whole cliff dive scene? We so did... we were very confused!

With the mom....she is her mom...and I thought she would clean up her act at the end. I saw it months ago but from what I remember thats what I think...wasn't she in that house with druggies anyway (the kid?)

No, it ended with him visiting the mom and her saying she had a date and had no one to watch the girl, and he offered to babysit. He sat next to the girl and said about her doll "Is that Annabelle?" and she said "NO, her name is Maybelle." the mom never even knew the name of the girl's favorite doll, and it ended seeming like none of it affected the way the mother acted.
I would have left the girl with the man who loved and cared for her. I've learned lately that giving birth does not make you a mother, and it was clear that the mom was not good.

OK - I don't really think Casey Affleck is a good actor, and I think I would've liked the movie a lot more if someone else was in it....
I think I would've done exactly what he did.

I saw the movie, it was good! I still think about it often, and I am pretty sure I would have let the girl be with Morgan Freeman (I don't remember his characters name).

i was torn too---part of me wanted her to stay with morgan freeman--but another part said "even though its for good--its still kidnapping"
it was just a tragic movie all around

yea i liked it alot! and i was totally confused by the cliff scene until the very end when it all played out as to what really happened.
both amanda and patrick (casey affleck) got the raw end of the deal. he thought he did the right thing by sending her back but she was left alone and neglected again. and his gf ended up leaving him over it. so they both ended up alone. i thought the final scene with both of them sitting on the couch together was great. ben affleck did a good job with directing too.

I couldn't decide what I would do either.
I thought it was a great and thought provoking movie though.
ETA: IRL- wouldn't social services have stepped in once they found out WHY she was kidnapped and what was going on in that house beforehand?

good movie!
My DH thought she should have stayed, I thought that she should have gone to a totally different home. The mother is obviously unfit, niether deserved her!
