The Kite Runner Ending- Question (Spoiler)
So a guy in my office saw the movie (didn't read the book) and thought it had a happy ending.
Well I never saw the movie, but I thought the book was so sad, and the ending was sad too. I see where he was comign from (rescuing the son), but I still felt it was sad.
So my question to you- Did you think the Kite Runner had a happy ending or a sad ending?

Re: The Kite Runner Ending- Question (Spoiler)
I read the book and im seeing the movie Fri. IMO, the book ended sadly b although Amir sved Hassans son, he was depressed and didnt talk. And Hassan suffered loss w/ his father dying, then their long time friend, and hearing the deaths of Hassan and his wife.

I agree the ending wasn't exactly a happy one.

Re: The Kite Runner Ending- Question (Spoiler)
I would say the ending was bittersweet. I was relieved that he got his nephew after all he went through and happy for the child, but felt like the child would never fully trust him because he had to leave him and go back after promising him wouldn't leave him alone. I also felt sad that he would never be able to resolve anything with his dad and half brother since he found out about everything long after they had died.

I totally agree with this analogy.

Re: The Kite Runner Ending- Question (Spoiler)
I just finished this book.
I think it was 50/50. Although Sohrab still missed his old life and was still depressed, the last page left hope that he was turning around. He had a half smile. So it did leave me with the feeling that the had a happy life togehter after that

Re: The Kite Runner Ending- Question (Spoiler)
IMO it was still a tragic ending. You don't really know what the future held but still the events that led to his son being brought to America by his Uncle was so sad. There really is no happy ending to that story no matter how you try to spin it.
