Question for those that live in Hicksville or surrounding areas...
Do you need a permit or the towns permission to rip out a tree in your backyard in Hicksville?

My mother in law lives in Bethpage and was told she needed a permit to remove a large tree from her backyard.

If you're in Hicksville, call the Town of Oyster Bay "code compliance" department 624-6250.
Ask them if you need a tree removal permit. Make sure you know the approximate height and diameter of the tree, along with what type it is. They might ask these things. I know in some smaller villages you don't need a permit if the tree is smaller then one foot in diameter or shorter then 10 feet. I don't know about Town of Oyster Bay, but like I said, get the measurements for when you call, so you only have to call once ! ! !

We are in Levittown, and we had 9 trees removed this past summer...We didnt need a permit
