Question for those that make their own baby food-- meats??
I've been making all of DD's food since we started her on solids (with the exception of cereal, of course). We need to start her on meat, but I have no idea how to cook it.
I have some chicken breasts that we wanted to start with. Should I boil them, bake them, broil or grill them? Does it even matter? I think we have to do a puree b/c she doesn't have any teeth (even now at 10 mo). I presume we should do something similar for beef, pork or fish too, yes?
I'd love any suggestions or advice on this.
TIA!

How I made chicken:
Boil chicken in water with celery, onion, carrots, zucchini etc.
Take out the onions and zucchini.
Puree the rest.
-- this comes out better with chicken on the bone (obv take it off the bone before pureeing) b/c it stays more moist
Also, you can get brown rice and make a rice powder, boil that and add it to the puree to thicke it up.

Thanks Tilde! Did you leave the skin on when you boiled it?

Steamed meat with broth till tender then put in blender with some of the broth. Once she got teeth I stredded or chopped into tiny pieces after I steamed.

I never pureed any meats for DS. I started giving him tiny pieces of chicken at like 9 or 10 months and he would "chew" with his gums. Remember that they normally don't get molars until around a year old, but they can "chew" with their gums before that.

Re: Question for those that make their own baby food-- meats??
I made DS chicken meatballs - 1/2 package w/ spinach and cheddar cheese, 1/2 package w/ petite diced tomatoes and mozzerlla cheese. Added my usual breadcrumbs, egg, garlic...
Rolled into bite sized (DS would pull apart) and baked.
They froze GREAT. Just popped a few out and zapped and his dinner was ready.
