Question for those that timed intercourse was suggested by your doctor
Due to the fact that I'm considered AMA (I can't stand that term), my doctor suggested timed intercourse. This will be my second child (hopefully).
I've only been trying for one month. I've been getting irregular periods these past few months, so the doctor said to start at CD 8-CD 25! Every other day or if it's too much, he suggested every third day sometimes. I picked up a clear blue advanced ovulation kit a few days ago and on CD 13, I got a flashing smiley face.
So my question is, should I continue to go for it the next few days back to back, being that I will most likely get High and peak fertility, and stop after that because now I will know when I am most fertile...or should I just stick with the every other day up until CD 25?

there were times that my flashing smiley face was there for 7 days. it depends. i would definitely BD every other day now at the very least. and then once you get the solid then go every day for that day and the next 2 days or so...

Thanks for responding, this board seems very quiet these days..
I tested this morning, and it's at a low so, I'm not fertile at this time? How can this be? Very strange. I would have thought the flashing smiley that was shown two days ago would stay and then it would turn into a solid smiley for a few days.. At this point, Im frustrated. Not sure if I should even bother doing anything tonight.

they really have been quiet!
what CD are you today? 15? and did you test yesterday? maybe use this month as a test month with the OPK's. the first month with me was a bit wacky too.
its weird that its Low today when two days ago it was high. maybe you missed it. but i would just BD anyway tonight. can't hurt. and try taking it again tomorrow morning...

Question for those that timed intercourse was suggested by your doctor
I used the clear blue advanced kit when I was ttc my dd--my RE recommended testing at the same time every day- she also recommended trying to have sex in the days leading up to the solid smiley because then sperm will be "waiting" for the egg when you ovulate- it can live up to 5 days. I was nearly 37 when I was ttc and was diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency--my doctors never recommended having sex every other day for such a long window--I was told once I had a flashing smiley on the test to try to have sex every day or every other day until I got a solid smiley--then do it that day and the next if possible-did your doctor do any testing to ensure you are in fact ovulating? I had an ultrasound done to check for follicles--I had the minimum # considered "normal" and became pregnant that month--good luck!

I'd suggest using Wondfos. I found them more accurate and then a digital OPK to confirm. When I was TTC, though, digitals didn't have high/low/peak days. That sounds more stressful!

Thank you for your advice. I am no longer seeing that doctor because I didn't feel he was the right fit for me. Yes, I thought CD 8-25 was a bit extreme too. However, at the time I denied the US because I had only been trying for one month and had only two very whacky periods, so he went back 5 months with me and agreed that If I wanted to wait to have an US, that I could.. but not too long. I think if I get a negative this month, I will choose a different OB and request the US. Take it from there. Thanks.

thats weird! try the wondfo's for sure... some people find them easier, some find it harder... you can get them cheap on amazon...
I used them at the same time as the CBE ones for the first month or two until i got the hang of them. then i just started using them bc they were cheaper. haha

I tried for 3 cycles with my first then on my 4th cycle I started using Wondfos (buy on Amazon) and followed Deanna's plan. I got pregnant that month. We are going to start TTC for #2 and I plan on using Deanna's plan again.

I also got pg w/ my 2nd using Deanna's plan.. But I used the CBE OPK's that didn't flash.. the old ones where there was either a smiley, or not.
