Question for those who are 36wks+ and have a scheduled c-section.
I had a doctors appointment last week for my 1st internal and he didn't perform one. He said there is no need to do an internal since I have a scheduled c-section. My next appointment is tomorrow and I am going to ask him to perform one because I would like to know where I am at, if I have dialated at all. Has this happened to anyone yet?

I'm just 30 weeks but I was at my OB yesterday and they said the first and only for c-section Moms is 36 weeks. HTH.

Re: Question for those who are 36wks+ and have a scheduled c-section.
My doctor does not do internals unless the patient requests one. I am not going to bother this time because I have a scheduled section.
However, with my 1st, I walked around 3 cm for 2 weeks and ended up being induced.
With my 2nd, I was closed up tight and 2 days later my water broke and I went into labor fast.
Internals really are not any indication of how close labor is.

Re: Question for those who are 36wks+ and have a scheduled c-section.
I had an internal at weeks 36 and 38 but told my obgyn that I did not want an internal yesterday at my 39 week appointment. My c-section is scheduled for this Friday. If you are curious, I would request an an internal but know that it can introduce bacteria in that region. Also, it really is not a perfect indicator of when you are going to go into labor. Have you lost your mucus plug yet?

Re: Question for those who are 36wks+ and have a scheduled c-section.
My Doctor did an internal at my appointment when I was 34 weeks, because I was having an issue.
BUT he will not do any more internals since we have a c-section scheduled for the 16th. Internal exams not only can introduce bacteria into the area as a pp said, but they can "get things going."
If you're having a scheduled c-section, they do not want you to go into labor before that time...at least that is what my Dr. told me...

I am 36 weeks and having a sch. c-sect at 39 weeks. My Drs are not doing internals. There is no need for it and I am happy since internals are not my most favorite thing in the world anyway.

Thanks for all of your responses. Since internals are not my favorites, I will just leave it alone.
