Question from a "non-mom"
Hi all! My FSIL is due to have a baby girl any day now. I got her a pink "Lovie" (bear) with her name on it along with some clothes. Do you think the "Lovie" is a good gift? My FH says it's setting her up to have a security blanket. I just thought they were cute! Did I make a mistake?? Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Question from a "non-mom"
My baby likes her "lovie" and she got a few of them as gifts. I love them and I don't mind if she has them.
I feel like if its in her personality to need a "security blanket" she's going to have that with something whether or not she actually has a "lovie."
Does that make sense?

You did good!!!!
One can never really pick which toy, blanket, stuffy, your child is going to be especially attached to.
Out of all my children only one has a "lovie" or in this case its her "baby blanket"..she still sleeps with it every night..she is 8.

I think a lovie is a great gift. Don't listen to DH, he's a boy, afterall!

Re: Question from a "non-mom"
DS is 4yo, and doesn't have a "lovie", but once in a while, he *has* to sleep with one (or more) of his cars.... either matchbox size, or sometimes a little bigger... That can't be comfortable, but that's what he wants....
Tell FH, "OK, it's not a 'lovie', it's just a cute stuffed animal". Would that make it OK, then? Most babies get dozens of stuffed animals.

I think it's a very sweet gift. My DD adores her lovie and gets soooo excited when she sees it in her crib.
