Question of the Day 1/17/07

So, if you were guaranteed to meet your SO/the person you were meant to spend the rest of your life with at whatever age you wanted, what ago would it be? Was it earlier or later than you may have met them?

I met my DH at 19. We were best friends for 4 years before getting together and then it all moved quickly from there. Engaged at 23, married at 25.

My only wish was that perhaps it was like a year later or so we got together because then I would have gave moving to LA more than a 6 month chance...

other than that, I think it all happened for a reason...i.e. if I hadn't moved to LA, I would have never even given the relationship a chance...

I met DH @ 16....

I wish I met him later- while we had lots of fun togehter, and I have no regrets there are certain things I *might* have done had I not been in a relationship...

I think Im gonna say 22...

I like the way things worked out for me & DH. We met when we were 16 & 14, but did not start dating until we were 26 & 24. I like that we were friends during our teen years, as he understands alot about me b/c of what we went through growing up. Plus we never had to hide our past from each other, which I think is a big deal. Neither one of us has any skeletons.

we met very early- 7th or 8th grade

then again at 21- but hated it each other

then again at 25 almost 26

I am glad we didn't start dating till later- it probably wouldn't have lasted

I met my DH just a few months before I turned 25. I think it was the perfect age. I was living on my own for years, had dated a few others and was set in my career. I guess I wouldn't want it any differently.

I do wish we would have gotten married sooner, we got married after 5 years when we were both 30.

I met DH at 24 and it was the perfect time.

I was living with my girlfriends having fun post college, which was a blast on its own, not looking for a relationship. I had a lot of "me" time before him which was perfect.

I also met my DH at 19 but we didn't start dating until I was 24. We didn't get engaged until I was 27.

I would have liked to have been married at 27 instead of 29, because I think then I would have been ready to TTC at 30 instead of 32, where I am now. Not that I have a problem with TTC now, it's just that my DH is older (41) and although he's very young at heart (read: immature ) I think I'd prefer it if he were younger when we had kids.

No I think I met DH at a good time in my life. I had just graduated from college, moved to Chicago and was living on my own. I was 22 at the time. We got engaged when I was 26 and married at 27. We had baby #1 when I was 28 and when baby #2 comes I'll be 29 (2 weeks shy of my 30th b-day)

Nope! I met DH at 23 and the summer between my second and third years of law school.

By that time I met my DH, I already did my underage partying, lived by myself, focused on my first year of law school, did my older partying and was finally mature enough to stop going for the bad boys and find a great one. I was also not old enough that I ever seriously worried about not finding "the one".

I think we met at a good time, I was 18 (he was 19). We were friends for a year and started dating soph yr in college. We didn't get engaged till I was 24 (him 25). I wouldn't change it.

we started dating at 16-i honestly wouldnt change it.

I am glad I met my DH when I did. Before I met him I made the choice to go back to school for my masters and change careers!
And we met inmy first semester of grad school and we were eachothers support through eachother's school.

I met my DH when I was 20 but we were friends for 2 years as we were both in relationships.

We started to date 22 & I think it was a perfect age. We were both just graduating with our bachelors degree & ready to start life. Got engaged at 24 & married at 26.

I think it was perfect timing!

we met when i was 23 and he was 20. we dated after about 4 months of talking. i think it worked out perfectly. i think if we had dated right off the bat, it would not have worked out.

I meet my DH when I was 32....I think if I had meet him at an earlier age, we would not still be together!

Met him at 22 which was just fine - I just wish that I hadn't been in a relationship for 5 years when I met him. I would have liked some more time to be single.

It was perfect timing, I was just 23, went through college, was able to be single and have fun and then I met DH< perfect timing!!!

I met Jim at 26, we were engaged when I was 27 and got married when I was 28.
Wouldn't change a thing. I don't think I was "at one" with myself any younger. Had we met 2 years earlier....I was def a different person.

I think we met at the right time. I was 22 and I had just graduated college. By that time, I had lived it up and was ready for relationship. I was 29 when we got engaged, married at 30 and a baby at 30. I wouldn't change a thing.

We met when we were both 23, I lived my life before him and lived it up, so by the time we got together we had both done the single, club/bar thing and were ready for a real relationship. We got engaged @ 28 and married at 30. So things went well with the timing.

just to clarify...

hypothetically, if you were guaranteed to meet your DH/SO at any age and it would work out, what age would it be...earlier or later.

or is that possible? am I suspending reality too much?

I met DH at 25. I had broken up with my previous serius BF at 21 and then was pretty much single from 21-25. I could would have been happy with 2 years of being single and doing the stupid dating and meeting DH two years earlier.

But I think we did meet when we were supposed to, everything was just ready to fall into place at that time.

I met my Dh just before my 22nd bday. I was actually with someone else and he was leaving for the summer to go and live with his friend in Arizona. he came home the night of my 22nd bday but I was out with friends. He left me the cutest, wierdest message on my answering machine lol
I think we met at a good time. We dated for almost 4 years before getting married.
