Question re flying and formula---What would you do??
DS and I are flying on Wednesday.
He is on Nestle Good Start which makes nursers in 3 oz bottles, he currently eats 6ozs. Knowing the current restrictions on liquids, and even though Baby Formula IS excluded from the restrictions, should I
A) Take 3oz nursers for on the plane
OR
B) Just take powder
TIA!

Re: Question re flying and formula---What would you do??
I have carried RTF on planes a few times, but I always had some powder as a back up. If you are travelling with a baby they might cut you some slack. I travelled with Juice boxes of formula (which you can't get in the states, but you can over here) and I had no problem. But I would bring some powder and ask the plane staff for a bottle of water, or buy a bottle of water at a shop once you go through the security.

If RTF is okay to bring on the plane. I would bring that. Seems a whole lot easier.

Just take the powder- it is so much easier. You just need to buy a bottle of water when you get in the terminal and you are all set.

I voted for powder, much easier IMO. That's what we brought and had no issues.

When I flew at the end of June, I had 2 oz RTF bottles in my diaper bag, along with an 8oz can of RTF in my bag...I took them out when I put my stuff on the security belt and nobody said anything about the liquid formula.

Re: Question re flying and formula---What would you do??
I flew last month and coming home I carried a big can of formula in a ziplock bag and no one said anything to me.
I would think it would be a pita to bring double the amount of 3oz nursettes, you'd have to either put 2 into a bigger bottle or interupt feeding him to give him a new a bottle.

Re: Question re flying and formula---What would you do??
I took the powder and I bought a hot cup of water (tea water i asked for) and used that for DD bottle.. I used half of the hot and half bottle H2o and it was perfect...

I say take powder. They will give you bottled water on the plane.

Re: Question re flying and formula---What would you do??
i flew out of jfk in july and had absolutely no problems with bring more than 3 oz of formula, meds and water. as long as you are traveling with a baby you should be fine. also, i printed out the regs and brought them with me in case anyone said differently.

I've been telling people to print out the rules as well. You are 100% allowed to bring whatever liquids you need for your baby for the flight (they may question you if you bring 2 gallons of formula for a 1 hour flight, though... )
Bring whatever is most convenient for you. We brought empty bottles and RTF formula.

Re: Question re flying and formula---What would you do??
I agree with bringing whatever is most convenient for you. I didn't vote because I'm not sure what you ordinarily use, but that's what I would bring. I've never had a problem bringing formula (and regular milk now) on the plane for DD. It's probably not a bad idea to print the regulations just in case you get a "Rambo" type checking your stuff like I did one time (but he still never questioned the milk).
