Question re: traffic violations court
So I got a ticket for expired inspection... I know, I know.
So today is my court appearance date. The cop who pulled me over set it up for the Patchogue court on Baker Street, and told me that they would probably reduce the fine, which is why I am going and not just pleading guilty by mail and paying the fine.
Do I need to bring my proof of inspection with me? I had it done right afterwards. I am going to look for it now, but I am afraid that DH threw it out... so hopefully I don't need it.
Thanks!

Re: Question re: traffic violations court
the cop ticketed you only for an expired inspection? He stopped you for that? Were you parked?
I would pay the fine...it's no points on your license.

It was a stupid check point. I was so mad because I had an appointment to go the following weekend.
I would have already paid it, but he told me this court typically reduces fines for this type of thing... and I figured if it saves me money, why not? I don't think I would need to bring the proof, but I just wanted to make sure.

actually, I think you do need to bring the proof that you got it taken care of.

Re: Question re: traffic violations court
Don't they drop it if you show proof that you got it inspected after that?

I think this applies to registration. I have received a ticket before for expired reg/inspection (when will I ever learn!?! ) and they dropped the reg one and I had to pay the inspection, but I did this via mail.

Not usually. I got one of these and had the car inspected next morning.
Went to court and the DA in Nassau was a real stickler about it. It took quite a bit of convincing * and a list of all the immediate family members I have that work in law enforcement ;) * to get out of this ticket.
Doesn't hurt to try though.

I would definitely bring it and apologize a lot. They may just let it go then.
