Re: Question regarding the amnio test
It was fine. I was more nervous but when I had the whole exam explained to me and when it was over it was not as bad as I thought it was.

Re: Question regarding the amnio test
i had to have it because my baby has a cystic hygroma on her neck. a lot of times when they find this it is connected to Turners and Downs. Thank god the test came back negitive for all genetic defects. It was a very stressful time for DH and I. The test itself wasn't pleasent, but def not as bad as I thought. It took about 10 mins and was more uncomfortable then painful. Afterwards I was sore and crampy (which they said was completely normal). I also had to get a shot in the my butt because I have negitive blood. I forget the reasoning behind this. That hurt more then the amnio
All in all the worst part was the waiting. We didn't find out until two weeks later that the test was negitive. I my mind it was totally worth everything to know that my baby girl is ok. Feel free to ask me questions about it.

Re: Question regarding the amnio test
We opted for the FISH test which gives the results in 48 hours and then the full results in 2 weeks.

Re: Question regarding the amnio test
I had one done last week becasue they saw on the sono a soft marker for downs. The test itself was ok - not too bad. just alot of pressure on my abdomin. I did have to rest on the couch for 72 hours after that and even now, I'm taking it easy. The sucky part is the waiting for 2 weeks for results. DH and I are trying very hard to be positive and keep busy.
