Re: Question to the people who are looking
We're open to the idea of upgrading in 5-10 years, but it would be nice to find a house to grow old in. A lot of it depends on whether we get different jobs and move further inland where it's much more affordable.

Re: Question to the people who are looking
Our house is a starter house-fixer upper. That is just what we wanted. FH is very handy and so is my family. We did all the work and gutting of the house so far. We lucked out and got a great house with so much potential in a great neighborhood....so we can definately see ourselves growing old in this house.

Re: Question to the people who are looking
the house i am buying is small but room to build, expand, go up go down, go to the side etc. i can't afford my forever house so this is what i can settle on and add as I have money. i plan on dying in this house unless the neighborhood changes, job changes or something along the lines of that.

Re: Question to the people who are looking
We are looking for our "home". Something that we could live in the next however many years. We have had a co-op for 3 yrs and considered that our starter home.

Re: Question to the people who are looking
Looked and got a house that we will raise our children....we didnt want a starter home since DH already had a house (small house) when I met him and we have been in since we got married. That is why we looked for "THE" house...

Re: Question to the people who are looking
When we first started looking we were going to buy a starter home. We then realized that we didn't like anything in that price range and realized that we could afford more.
We have a 4 bedroom colonial so we have plenty of room. In 5 years our plan is to revisit where we are in life (children, $$ etc) and we will either buy another house - or we will blow out this house. Our house is great but there are things that I def. want (bigger kitchen, cathedral ceilings) that I don't have right now. The good thing is that we have the property to make those changes if we chose to stay.

Re: Question to the people who are looking
I wanted to buy the house that we would stay in, and I think we have. It's a 3 bedroom one-level ranch with an apartment in the basement. We can definitely expand and also use the basement as extra living space.

Re: Question to the people who are looking
I knew we couldn't afford our dream house right now, but we ended up with a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath colonial in a good SD with a nice amount of land. We can definitely expand here if we decide to do that, or we can sell in a few years. So far I love where we live and can see putting the work into the house to make it what we want, but it will all come down to money. If it makes more sense to sell and buy the dream house, we will do that, if not we will build out and up.

Re: Question to the people who are looking
We just moved in 3 months ago and this will not be THE home for us - we plan to be out in 4-5 years.
