Questions...
I did an HCG trigger Thursday night and I had a scheduled IUI on Saturday. I took the OPK Friday night and it was positive. I did the IUI Saturday and I begged them to do a scan. They saw my follies still there so I asked them if I could do another IUI on Sunday. They let me do the IUI Sunday but wouldn't do another scan. She said I'm just going to drive myself crazy because after you ovulate something reforms and looks like follies on a scan but aren't?? BUT, Sunday afternoon I took another OPK and it was still positive!!
What does this mean? Why would my OPK still be positive 3.5 days after the Ovidrel? Also, what did it mean when she said something reformed? Ever heard of that?
TIA!!

Re: Questions...
I'm not sure why your OPK's would still be positive but being you had the trigger shot you probably O'd between Sat/Sunday. I don't understand why they didn't scan you the next day to see if you O'd. You were right to ask them to do the scan on Saturday. I hope this IUI works out for you.

Re: Questions...
Lauren I could have written this post.
The same thing happend to me, only I went for the iui on Friday. I insisted they do a sono and sure enough there was the follie, so they scheduled another one for Saturday (which is when I thought they should have done it.) My dh asked if they would do another sono, and they said no, that it wasn't necessary that the shot would make you O 24-36 hours for sure and that I already O'd.
To answer your question about the + opk's days later, the shot stays in your system for about a week. Remember it's an HCG shot and it makes your body think that it's pg, giving you pg symptoms.
Good luck and welcome to that "wonderful" 2ww.

Re: Questions...
Thanks for your response, girls...
Suzy, I thought that the OPK measured LH not HCG?
Good luck in the 2WW to you, too! We'll be dying together!

Re: Questions...
The HCG in the trigger will cause a postive OPK...also a lot of times the "follie" you see in the scan is actually the casing that is around the egg...the egg is released but the casing remains and releases progesterone into your system.
Good luck to both of you!!!!!!

Wow, I thought the OPK only measured LH, I guess I'm slow. You learn something new every day!
It was Dr. Droesch, by the way. Very nice but on IUI #2, very assertive! I wish I could have gone for ANOTHER IUI this morning!

She did both of mine this time. For the second one she and dh talked the entire time as if I weren't even there!!
ETA: LH and HCG have similar molecular structure (can you tell I do a lot of reading?), and will both give you positive on the opk.

Re: Questions...
The other ladies got it correct. Ovidrel is HCG and OPK's measure HCG as well ( example , if your pregnant, you will get a positive on your OPK..some people use them as HPT's b/c they are cheaper)....
And the empty sac's still show after the egg has been released from the follie.
Good luck with this Cycle. I hope this is it for you!!

Re: Questions...
I had the trigger the day before my iui as well. The first time I got pregnant I only had one iui the day after. The second time I got pregnant I had two iuis on two consecutive days starting the day after trigger. I hope it all works out for you.
