Questions about weaning to milk from formula?
I called my ped and they told me to start replacing an ounce of formula with milk in each bottle. But I am not sure exactly when to start. Sydnie was 11 months yesterday. Also, I'd like her to drink milk from a cup and get rid of the bottle. But if I start putting milk in the bottle then how does that happen?
How did you do it? Thanks!

Re: Questions about weaning to milk from formula?
We did it like your ped. recommended, substituting 1 oz per week of formula with milk but I continued giving it in his bottle.
He never seemed to notice the difference.
ETA: DS is 15 months and still has a bottle in the morning and sometimes during the day.
He just will not drink a lot from a sippy.

Re: Questions about weaning to milk from formula?
I started when he was 12 months. For a few days I gave him 3/4 formula 1/4 milk, then 1/2 formula 1/2 milk, then 1/4 formula 3/4 milk, then all milk. It took a little over a week. Tried cold turkey but he wouldn't drink it.
Then I swicthed the bottles to cups. He was taking 3 bottles per day. I switched the middle bottle to a cup first, he was fine. A few days later got rid of the morning bottle. The night bottle was last. I could have probably switched to cups cold turkey though. This was done by the time he turned 13 months.

Re: Questions about weaning to milk from formula?
Hi. I waited until he was 1. My ped recommended the same thing. We started with 1oz milk, 7 formula for a couple of days. Then increased by 1 oz until we got to 5 oz milk, 3 oz formula - then I changed completely.
He was still getting 4 bottles/day. After he was fully on milk, I took away his middle bottles first and gave him a straw cup. Then a few days later I took his morning bottle (this was a big battle). After a couple of days he actually seemed to like his cup better, especially because he refused to hold his own bottle ever! A couple of days later my husband gave him his cup before bed, and that was it.

I think I will be following this plan. That was a good idea. To replace one bottle (mid-day) with a cup etc. She drinks her water from a cup no problem but she loves her bottles
