Questions for those that "tore" during delivery....(maybe TMI)

I tore during delivery and had to get a few stitches. I have been using the pads they give at the hospital (with the witch hazel) and the numbing spray but I still feel sore. I also feel a little pinching, I am assuming from the stitches. How long does it take for the stitches to disappear and to heal? And,(this may be the TMI question, but I am curious) do things look and feel the same down there after you heal? Chat Icon

I had a minor tear, only 1-2 stitches. I definitely felt weird for a while. Weeks I think but eventually I noticed no difference whatsoever. I don't spend time looking down below so I'm not sure if it looks any different but DH has never said anything. Chat Icon

It took about two weeks before I felt somewhat "normal" , with little pain and now its completely healed, no change 3 months later.

I had a lot of stitches and I cant remember how long it took for the pain to go away but TMI when I have to go #2, it hurts a little. My DD is 13 weeks old and Im not 100% down there.

I tore a tiny bit, with a few stitches. I will not lie - I felt like I had a bowling ball between my legs for about 10 days after, and still felt so much "pressure" there.

I never looked at the area.... Once it felt better (about 2 weeks), I was back to normal, stopped using the peri bottle and the dermarest spray.

Same here, but I had a 4th degree tear with my first. My second was a 2nd degree tear. No idea how many stitches each time.

Same exact here and I only tore on the sides a tiny bit, not even toward the back where most people tear. I have to say that was worse to me than the labor - I couldn't wait to feel like myself again.Chat Icon

I made the mistake of using the shower head in the shower instead of the bottle and OUCH I think I opened something up and it burned...so don't do that :)

I didn't tear but I did have an episiotmy. For 10 days this is what I did everytime I went to the bathroom, I was religious about this routine and I think it did help. I used 1 bottle of warm water in the squirt bottle they give, pat dry, on the pad I would put the witch hazel pads and then dibucane cream. This is what they had me do in the hospital and I read the discharge form amd it said to continue for 10 days so I did. I did feel pressure down their for probably 2-3 weeks after that getting up from something soft wasnt so bad, neither was walking. It took about 6 weeks for me to no feel anything down their maybe even a week or 2 longer.

I think I used the Dermaplast spray for a few weeks. The pinching you are feeling is the healing process.

Some people are the same, some are worse off, some end up being better (so to speak).

I tore, but my dr said it was so small and so clean that it would have been the same had she cut me.

Re: Questions for those that "tore" during delivery....(maybe TMI)

I tore and had an episiotomy, and it took about 2 weeks for me to feel better. The Dermaplast didn't help at all. I also got hemmorhoids as a result of the delivery, and those actually hurt the most.

I was advised by one of my friends not to look down there (which I wasn't going to anyway). I am still not 100%, but I do find it hard to believe that I had a baby 4 weeks ago- I thought I'd feel "looser" but I don't.
