Questions for those whose DC dropped into the lower percentiles for height/weight

DS just had his 9 month appointment. He'll be 9 months on the 12th. He's now in the 10th percentile for height and 15th for weight. This was a pretty significant drop. At 2 months, he was 25th for height and 75th for weight. At 4 months, he was 30th for height and 70th for weight and at 6 months, he was 40th for height and 50th for weight.

He's EBF. The pediatrician isn't too concerned right now, but said she wants to see him at at least the same percentiles at 12 months. I know BF babies' growth slows down as they get older, but this seems like larger than normal drop off.

Of course, I'm slightly concerned and it's making me question whether he's getting enough to eat. He seems to be getting enough since he's STTN and will refuse to nurse if he's not hungry. He also won't take any more solids when he's full. He's not a skinny baby either. He has plenty of rolls although he's definitely less chunky than he was as a newborn.

Did anyone go through something similar? Did you feed anything to DC in particular to help DC gain weight? DS eats 3 meals per day and nurses or gets pumped BM 4 times per day. I only give him cereal (oatmeal) once per day and it usually isn't more than 1-2 tbsp. Maybe I should try to increase it. Chat Icon

What happened if DC kept dropping/remaining in the lower percentiles? This was years ago, but my brother dropped off the charts twice as a child and had to see endocrinoligists and get various testing done. My cousin also went through something similar.

I don't have any experience with this but I would agree that I would have some concerns too. I would probably get a second opinion Chat Icon

ETS: Trying to remember what Ryan was eating at that age. He was def. BF more. He took probably 35 oz + (nursed morning and night and got 3 6oz bottles of pumped milk). He had 3 meals - usually cereal and fruit for breakfast, yogurt for lunch, a snack (puffs), and dinner cereal and veggie. At this point, I would say he was eating 8 TSP of cereal (I'm going to do a search). Obviously every baby is different. He did eventually drop (swap actually) in percentiles and it was around this pt 9-12 months that he went from being 90th weight/75th for height to 90th for height/75th for weight. But it's been consistent since then. Chat Icon

ds was 50% for weight , until his 9 month he dropped below 25% . I try to feed feed feed him but he just grows longer LOL so I'm afraid when we go for his 12 month he will be even worse! he is and has been 95% for height

I really like my regular pediatrician. I'm sure Harrison will get sick again before his 12 month appointment so I'll speak with our pediatrician the next time I see him. Maybe I'll even ask about weight checks. Thanks. Chat Icon

He's eating 3 meals per day, usually 4-5 oz of food per meal.
