Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
Both the hospital and the pediatrician said for diapering DS, just put vaseline on his butt and call it a day. If there are no diaper rash symptoms, etc., does anyone do anything more than Vaseline?
Also do you use tube vaseline or the tub? My hands get so sticky with the tub, but the tubes don't last as long.
Finally, do you put any lotion on your newborns bodies?

Re: Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
I have a DD and use vaseline tub (I wipe excess on the diaper). I use tubes for my diaper bag. I feel its more gentile than other products and use desitin if i notice redness or rash.

Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
i only used vaseline when he was healing from the circumcision. other than that, i use nothing unless he is red or has a rash. i've used vanicream lotion on him since his first real bath (after his belly button fell off).

Re: Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
I used Vaseline, either the tube or the tub, didn't matter. I also sometimes used baby lotion on him since he had such dry skin on his arms & legs. If he had a rash I'd use a&d or desitin.

Re: Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
I was told Vaseline too, but my ds got a diaper rash, so I used aveeno diaper rash cream and now use it after every change. I might start to do what I did with my dd, which was a&d after wet diapers and aveeno after poop diapers.

Re: Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
We use A&D during the day and something stronger, like Balmex for overnight. DS has very sensitive skin and gets red/irritated easily, so we need an extra layer of protection on him.

Only used vaseline while circumcision was healing. I use diaper cream only at a sign of redness

I love the Aveeno lotion, I use it after every bath.
Regular diapering I use Butt Paste and if there is a rash, Triple Paste.

Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
Just vaseline or A&D for my DD. We even mostly cut that out after a while. I prefer tubes.

Re: Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
I used Vaseline at every diaper change while his circumcision was healing then only if he was irritated. I use the tub with a Q-tip or my finger sbd wipe excess on the diaper.
I use a little bit of lotion on his legs and back after baths.

Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
I use Vaseline for more or less every diaper change. I have the tub for when we are at home and tubes for the diaper bags.

Re: Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
I use baby powder with cornstarch for every diaper change. It especially helps in the summer months when they are sweaty with the diaper.

Questions re: Diapering and Lotion for Newborn Boy
I don't use anything unless there's a rash/irritation.
I also only put lotion on if there's dry skin--otherwise the skin becomes dependent on the artificial moisture.
