Questions regarding 3D and 4D ultrasounds
I've read a few posts about them... think I read some place called Impact does them and I was wondering...
Are they required or are they something people volunteer to do and if so what are the main reasons people do them? I've read they cost some money - are they ever covered by insurance? At what point in the pregnancy do people have them done?
Thanks!

I believe that they are only covered by insurance if they are medically necessary.

Re: Questions regarding 3D and 4D ultrasounds
I've had them but that's because my doctor's office has the equipment right there. I've never asked for them, it's standard in my office when they do a regular sono to switch to the 3D as well, but my doctor's office is a hospital annex.
3D sonos aren't required, and some doctors don't like them at all.

they are usually only coverer if medically necessary due to the cost. I had one every week or two due to twins and the nurse I had had the machine. You also only get it further into the pregnancy when you really can see baby fat. There is a place in East meadow that dooes it for a fee and you get a video too. you can fm me iif you want me to find the location

I think it depends if your doctor's office has the machine. My doctor's office has them and I get 3D and 4D when I get the ultrasound. It doesn't cost more for me. They are incredible pictures. I have pictures of my son that are so clear. I can tell that he looks like my DH already!

Why would some doctor's not like them? Are there dangers associated with them?

Some MDs associate sonos with higher risk for autism. Mine does not.
Impacts pricing is on their website. Unless your MD has the equipment, you usually will have to go indepently and pay for this.

they are safe, there is no evidence proving otherwise
the 3d sono is AMAZING, I had one at 27 weeks and my family got to sit in the room while it was being done...priceless
