Just explain that his head is very flat & you wanted to see him to get a referral to a pediatric neurologist

I get like that sometimes too. In order to advoid being turned down for an appt - or asked too many questions, I say I need to bring DC in to have such and such checked out - When is a good day?

Re: Quick advice on calling Ped needed
Not trying to make you doubt your ped but never take a receptionist's medical advice.
I once had a receptionist tell me I could take TheraFlu while pregnant because "you can take anything over the counter". I called back because it didn't sit right with me. She checked with the doctor, only to say "No. You can't take Theraflu".
Trust your gut.

Re: Quick advice on calling Ped needed
If they question you too much, I would ask to have the doc call you. Maybe he will give you a referral without a visit. I agree with nrthsgrl - you have to trust your gut in any instance - never let them talk you out of a visit, the worst thing that can happen is a copay!
ETA: I am bring my 1.5yr old in today for a splinter! The receptionist didnt even question me - she just have me an appt. I cant get him to sit stilL!

SO TRUE! I called when DD was just under 3 months & told them she was having ?diarrhea & she told me to give her pedialyte. I questioned it for a baby & she was like, 'oh, I didn't know how old she was, I guess we should ask the doctor"!
Anyway, just insist on an appointment - you're the parent & you have every right to bring your child in for any reason. They get paid no matter what.

The receptionist told me DS was spoiled when he was only 3.5 weeks. I had called to see the dr to find out why he as crying 12 hours per day if I did not hold him.
