Quick Answer Please....UPDATE
So, my SIL texted me first thing this am b/c her MIL (they live with them) gave her 3.5 month old a bottle of soy milk instead of RTF Similac Sensitive. I told her to call the ped, but I didn't think there was much they could to for him....and it probably would just be bad gas/poops for a bit.
Do you think I should have to told her to go to the ER? I am second guessing myself.....
UPDATE-I just spoke to my SIL, little Eliot didn't have any reaction to the soy milk today and is as happy as a bug in a rug
Too bad SIL and my niece have pneumonia

Re: Quick Answer Please....
My guess would be that it wouldny be an emergency bc its not poisonous. Worst case scenario an upset stomach but it doesnt mean she shouldnt call the dr to let them know. I'd call what does she have to lose.

Re: Quick Answer Please....
I would have said to call the ped myself and monitor DC.

Re: Quick Answer Please....
I think you gave her great advice. The ped will probably want her to watch for any reactions to the milk.
Let us know how the baby does today

Re: Quick Answer Please....
I dont think the ER is necessary, just monitor the baby for any different behavior.
My DS seems to be allergic to soy, which is odd b/c I've given him soy formula in the past and he was fine. But now when I give him anything soy he gets sick and throws up.

Re: Quick Answer Please....
You gave the right advice...nothing they can do but keep any eye out for any problems...and perhaps some gas/constipation/loose BM. It has to run it's course.
Hopefully it will be fine.

Re: Quick Answer Please....
ITA with everyone else. I think you did the right thing as well. It's not like it's a poison - so they wouldn't flush his stomach or anything like that. They are just going to wait for it to pass and see if there is any kind of reaction to the formula.
that it's an easy day....
