Quick ? for Lovenox girls
Hi Ladies,
I was just put on Lovenox. (I should have been on it from the beginning, my doctor admittedly "overlooked" something in my medical history, but that is another story. )
Anyway, my main question is: are you considered high risk if you are on Lovenox? My old obgyn said I should be, but I had several problems with her and she's lost credibility with me. The new ob gyn says it's not necessary, and there is a high risk doctor on staff in case I need to consult with him.
I feel really comfortable with the new doctor but is it possible that I am better off considered high risk because I will get extra tests/scrutiny I wouldn't get otherwise?
I'm finding this shot thing a little freaky but I'll get used to it....right?
Thanks.

Re: Quick ? for Lovenox girls
You will get used to it! I saw a HR at 8 weeks and will see her again at my level II next week, if anything were to come up between seeing her, my regular OB would consult. My sister also took lovenox (we are idential twins, same reasons as me) and she saw both until 20 weeks and then was released to the regular OB only. It all really depends on the reasons for the lovenox and your OB.

Re: Quick ? for Lovenox girls
Thank you!!
I am on it due to a blood clot I had while on the pill three years ago.
Any other thoughts?

Re: Quick ? for Lovenox girls
well, I was diagnosed with the clotting disorder at 35 weeks so I started with the Heparin and will go on Lovenox after the birth. I know my OB consulted wit other high-risk doctors, Im not sure if I will be considered high risk in the furture

Re: Quick ? for Lovenox girls
Definitely high risk! Basically, you need the Lovenox to ensure that the baby is growing properly and you don't get blood clots or have placental problems.

i would definitely say you are high risk now.. i have to go every month to the lab for bloodwork to make sure my levels are where they should be.

I had to have blood work too every month but I was still not considered HR...I guess ever case and every doctor is different
