quick question girls , updates!
OK; so it is officially month 9 of TTC. Went for the Sono and HSG; came back normal. DH hasnt gotten SA done yet. I was thinking of making an appt with Dr Braverman. I called insurance. They said they cover diagnostic/comprehensive techniques. Labs, Xrays, Ultrasounds.. Ovulation induction is covered; oral injections AI, spermwashing; FSH and Gonal F are covered; they said you would need authorization for some of this... $50 copay for seeing an RE. IUI and AI are covered but IVF and any higher treatments like that are not covered. so what do I do ladies?
Update # 1: ok called insurance back and they said i dont need a referral to see RE or to see Urologist for DH as long as they participate in network with Oxford. So, they said Braverman is covered and I just scheduled an appt for an SA with Dr Schumer. They consult with u and then send u to a lab to have it done they said. I made appt for Tuesday at 5. for DH, and an appointment for Dr Braverman on Monday . Let the process begin!
Update #2: I made the appintment at like 3 and Dr B just called me to speak with me about what to expect when I come in! He sounds so nice! Getting very nervous though!

Re: quick question girls
I'm not really sure what you're asking...
DH definitely needs to get an SA done - ASAP! If something is seriously wrong in that area, then continuing to try on your own could just be a waste of time.
You're under 35 right?
Do you need a referral before going to an RE for your insurance company? Check up on that. If not, then you can just make an appointment with whichever RE you want.

Re: quick question girls
I would make an appointment with an RE. They wil tell you everything that needs to get done. As for a SA, your DH should be able to have it done at the RE.

I would call and see if you need a referral.
At first our diagnostics were covered, but we needed a referral from an ob/gyn after 12 months of trying.

Re: quick question girls
DH had his SAs done at the urologist. I would definitley call an RE and get a referral for an SA ASAP then take it from there.
If he does have issues depending on the severity there are different vitamins he can take to help him out. Good Luck

Re: quick question girls
I would ask my ob/gyn to write a scrip for the SA for your DH. It might be quicker than starting from scratch with an RE. Have you had your CD3 testing done? My ob/gyn also asked for a HSG test before referring me to an RE and I was 40 at the time. You can then determine whether you need to see an RE.
ETA: Sorry, I see that your HSG is clear.
My insurance has the exact same coverage (except for a $20 copay) and I had to have proof sent from my ob/gyn that I was TTC for a year.

Re: quick question girls
i have the perscription already from my obgyn for the sa, i just havent gotten dh to do it yet because we didnt know where to go that accepted the insurnce. most places she gave us to go to dont do it or dont accept insurance. thats why i figured an re would be abl eto do it there and answer any other questions at the same time.

Just look up urologists in your area on your insurance website.
