Quick Photoshop ? (w/pic)
Why does the entire subject in the picture get outlined when I use the Magic tool instead of the small flower in the picture?
Heck, here's the pic so you can see. I used this for our announcement and the company did it for me. I am trying to teach myself. I just want to make the pic black and white and keep the flower pink.

Are you using the magnetic lasso? If so I would recommend zooming in on the flower so it's really big on the screen and then using the tool to select it.
But I'm new at this so keep that in mind.

I would do the same...zooming in helps limit what needs to be lasso'd.

I would make a duplicate layer
Click on the new duplicate layer
Erase the flower.
The colors should come through.

Ok, so lasso the flower and do what w/ it? Then make the print b&w?

magnetic lasso...put the flower in its own layer... then make the original layer (rest of the photo black and white) HTH!!!
