Quick question for cousin with bad credit??

If you know you have bad credit because you lost your job (union laid him off) last year and he wasnt able to pay all his bills with his unemployment money and he fell behind on his credit cards and student loans. If the credit check will come out bad how are you able to rent anywhere?? He tried finding a place but it didnt work, He is working again and trying to consolidate his bills and trying to move out of my aunts house. He wanted to rent a co-op or condo but he was informed they will do a credit check. I feel really bad for him?? Do you know what kind of score they are looking for? He has been working for the last 6 months. Thanks ladies!

some landlords ARE forgiveable.

he can explain the situation/negatives to the landlord, give more in security, get a co signer, etc.

There are alot of things he can do.
