quick weight loss... 20lbs
i have 20lbs to go to reach my ULTIMATE, LIFELONG GOAL.... yay!
boo! because i just can't shake these last pounds.
i'm not expecting to be a twig, i'm not expecting to have the body of a 20-year old. i just want to be the healthiest me EVER.
getting these last 20lbs off will put me at a healthy BMI and all the health stuff that comes with that... it can also help me run faster since there will be less of me to carry around.
so, my question to you is about knocking these last pounds off as quickly as i can. i've been stuck here for soooooooo long. i'm sick and tired of this plateau.
talk to me about a "diet" that helped you with the last few pounds.
thanks

You've been running tons! I was there last year. Not able to lose and runnign like a maniac. You need to add intervals. Do some track work and stop after every lap to do burppees, push ups, situps, squats, or lunges.
Crossfit changed my life and my training. What I described would be similiar to something done there. Try it!!

And if you still use dairy or gluten, try to get rid of that and watch the pounds melt off.

Re: quick weight loss... 20lbs
I think when you hit a weight loss plateau, you just have to mix things up in terms of what you are eating, the amounts that you are eating (if you are calorie counting, for example, I find it helps to vary it a bit... eat more one day, less the next), exercise (if you are doing all cardio, add strength training). I think sometimes you have to shock your system to get your metabolism going again.
But congrats on your weight loss and fitness accomplishments so far! It sounds like you have done so well. I admire your running success... I did couch to 5K last year, too, but my running has fallen by the wayside.

by giving up gluten, you will easily be giving up lots of food that is bad for you anyway.
these foods are generally gluten free:
Beans, seeds, nuts in their natural, unprocessed form Fresh eggs Fresh meats, fish and poultry (not breaded, batter-coated or marinated) Fruits and vegetables Most dairy products
and then if you were to give up dairy, too....you will be left with:
beans, seeds, nuts in natural form (protein and healthy fat) fresh meats fish and poultry (lean protein) fruits & veggies (good carbs, protein)
eating the above ^ is essentially eliminating all processed foods from your diet....leading to healthy and sustainable weight loss.

Every one gave you good, healthy options. But if you really need to jump start, the cabbage soup diet isn't too bad. Yes, it's a lot of water weight, but you can easily drop 10lbs in a week.

Exactly. Thank you for explaining it. I didn't notice the question until now.

I agree with this. I went dairy and GF 5 months ago. I lost 12 lbs within the first 2 weeks and I've kept it off without even a smidgen on exercise. It's a very clean eating type of lifestyle and it's super healthy.

Re: quick weight loss... 20lbs
I just finished reading The Fast Metabolism Diet - and am starting it on Monday (after Aunt Flo goes away ) It's the clean eating everyone has described, just a bit more structured day to day and easier for a newbie like me to follow.
My cousin lost 25 lbs in a month - his wife (who's VERY think and didn't need to lose anything) lost 14

I haven't started yet - but it's no sugar, no caffiene, no alcohol, gluten free
The VERY basic structure is:
Mon/Tues you eat fruit, veggies, grains and some protien Weds/Thurs are protien & veggie only days and Fri - Sun are fruit, veggie, grain, protien and a little bit of healthy fat - You're supposed to repoeat that cycle for 4 weeks to cleanse your body and kick start your metabolism
I don't know if it's REALLY that combo / schedule that makes a difference or if it's simply the fact that you're eating very clean - but suposedly it works.
Regardless, it was a very interesting book
I'll let you know how I'm doing at the end of next week
