Radio Station Poll: How often has your DH (or in GoldenRod's case you) cried in the past 6 months?

Just curious. I heard a radio poll which said that on average, males in this country have cried 6 times in the past 6 months.

It seemed kind of high to me.

I almost never cry. Unfortunately, I was at a funeral not that long ago for a close friend... Chat Icon

Sometimes DW gets frustrated with me because I rarely let my negative emotions out. I show my good emotions, so I'm not "non-emotional", but I don't show it when I'm sad.

Even if I'm in severe physical pain, I don't cry.

It was partly how I was raised. "Real men don't cry...." Not saying it's right, it's just how I was raised, and it's hard to overcome that. I feel like I need to be the steady foundation of the family, and that often means not crying.

In 10.5 years I've seen my DH cry 3 times. Maybe 4, but probably not.

In almost 12 years I have seen DH tear up MAYBE three times. Never a full on cry, just eyes red.

Not in the past 6 months. But a few years ago at my DH's grandmother's funeral, I saw a single tear come down his cheek. I think that was the only time I ever saw him cry.

I only saw my dh cry once over not getting tickets that he was told were his to a sporting event. He was doing construction work at our house with my dad that day. My dad said my dh got the phone call letting him know he didn't get the tickets he hung up the phone started speaking in tongues and hammering the nails into the sheetrock really hard. My dad decided for the safety of everyone involved they would not use power tools that day.

Re: Radio Station Poll: How often has your DH (or in GoldenRod's case you) cried in the past 6 months?

In the past 6 months... once. His uncle died suddenly and everyone was kind of shaken to the core, esp. DH; he was very close to his uncle.

In the past 6 and a half years....mmmmm, 3 times - but they were really good cried, not a few tears shed, but good hard cries.

He's more likely to get mad and angry than get upset and cry.

My dad however cries all the time. We think it has to do with him getting older. None of us (me, my mom, or my sisters) cried on my wedding day, but my dad cried all day long. He cried when he talks about bagpipes for crying out loud (there's actually a story behind the bagpipes and it has to do with a time right after 9/11, but we still poke fun at him.... Chat Icon)

Just in the last 6 months I saw DH cry for the first time since I've known him over 6 years ago and that was b/c there were complications at the hospital when DC was born so it was a bit insane and I saw DH break down for a second and then contain himself immediatly.

The only time I've ever seen my DH even come close to crying was at our wedding (way longer than 6 months ago). He teared up, but no tears actually fell.

The only time I seen my DH cry was at the altar on our wedding day. He was about 20x more nervous than I was.

It was just watery eyes, but still a cry. Chat Icon

my DH might kill me for typing this Chat Icon

he's just like me. he doesn't cry for big things - funerals, our wedding, the birth of our son...

but when it comes to TV shows and movies and commercials we are both complete saps!

so i would say that # is accurate for DH but with the disclaimer that more often than not, he's getting teary eyed, and not full-on bawling.

Funny, my friend just told me last week to go see a particular movie and that DH would even cry. I said fat chance! I've seen him cry twice. Last time was 4 years ago at his Grandma's funeral.

In 11 yrs, I think DH has teared up 2 times. Once with a family member and once when DS was born. But NEVER dropped a tear.

DH is a huge mush. He gets teary when I cry. He tears up when something upsets him. We both pretty much sobbed our way through the movie "Up"Chat Icon

In nearly 8 years together I've seen DH full on cry 2 times (and they were really bad circumstances) and get a tear in his eyes maybe 4 or 5 times.

Just isn't a crier
