Re: Random Halloween Costume Question
When DS was 4 he actually understood the concept and told me right away he wanted to be a TMNT.

Random Halloween Costume Question
Last year, at age 4. DH took him to pick it out, he came home with a swamp grim reaper costume, and I almost cried. My sweet little boy, who had dressed as Woody from Toy Story the year prior, was already moving onto the gross scary costumes.

Re: Random Halloween Costume Question
My daughter is 3 and this is the first year she's picking her costume. She wants to be a character from one of her favorite books and I actually think it will be adorable so I'm on board.
If she picked something I didn't like I would have tried my best to sway her towards something else.

Random Halloween Costume Question
Dd had just turned 3 last Halloween and already had an Elsa and a rapunzel dress for playing dress up. She chose to be both. She started trick or treating as rapunzel and then stopped home to change into Elsa.

Random Halloween Costume Question
My DD, who will be 4 in Dec, told me weeks ago that she wanted to be Jasmine for Halloween, unprompted. Bu that's because she IS Jasmine. Seriously, she calls herself Jasmine, she calls my DH Aladdin and, lucky me, I'm Abu. She is obsessed with that movie!
Last year, at almost 3, all she said was she wanted to be a princess, so that was easy enough. Generic princess costume from the consignment shop down the street, boom done!

My DS is almost 3 and he has no concept of picking a Halloween costume. I asked him last week and he said Grampa
That's awesome!

Random Halloween Costume Question
My son changes his mind hourly lol. He's two and a half. He's narrowed it down to Olaf or Marshall from paw patrol. I'm gonna try and find one on a fb group, and sell his (adorable!) Mickey costume from last year.

Re: Random Halloween Costume Question
At 2.5, I brought her to the store and made a big deal of the butterfly costume that I loved. Luckily, she bought into it! On the one hand you want them to go along with their costume. On the other hand, they have the next 5 years to be princesses! Just include her in the process more visually and you may get her going along with you.
Eta: wait! I got my years confused! 1-10 was butterfly. 2-10 was peppa!

Re: Random Halloween Costume Question
6 mo: I chose 1.5: I chose 2.5: she chose (princess) 3.5: she chose (princess) 4.5: I chose/convinced her... After I bought the princess she wanted & she said it was too itchy (luckily it was returned)

Re: Random Halloween Costume Question
I was still directing between a few choices at 3 or 4. I still make some suggestions when my older one is deciding between costumes, but it's more about the quality and fit than the actual costume. My kids also change their minds a lot about what they want to be so I try to wait until late September or early October to buy something.
