Random Q-- Corporate Team Building Ideas

We have a meeting with a new client next week-- and I want to come up with a cool team building exercise.

Has anyone done anything really cool along the way that you can share?

Obviously-- nothing too complicated.

Thanks!

We've done some different things- can you elaborate a little more in terms of what you are looking for?
i.e. are you looking for an outting or some type of exercise to get to know one another better?

We had a team building one where each team got a bag of big marshmallows and a box of spaghetti, and whichever team made the highest structure using only the marshmallows and spaghetti (raw from box obviously) in like 10 mins won. Teams were 6-8 people I believe.

ETA: Maybe not good while actually eating, but after finished lunch?

Re: Random Q-- Corporate Team Building Ideas

I used to run team building activities so I know a lot. If you have an idea of what you are looking for and for how many people I can describe some activities for you to do.

Re: Random Q-- Corporate Team Building Ideas

I love the Snowball Fight Ice Breaker.

You can ask almost any question and you have each person write down his or her response on a piece of paper.

Then they crumple the paper up into a ball.

Then you stand in a circle and have a "snowball fight", throwing the paper balls at each other until someone yells "STOP".

Then you take the closest snowball and you have to try to figure out whose answer it is.

It's a lot of fun and very easy to do.

Re: Random Q-- Corporate Team Building Ideas

You can also do a getting to know you Bingo.

You write down fairly common facts:

Has two kids
Has no kids
Loves dogs
etc.

And people have to walk around and fill in the names of the people who have those traits until they get bingo.

Or if you have time, you get some fun facts from the people ahead of time and do the same.

Good getting to know you game.

I have to do TONS of these for my job, so let me know if you want more.

Re: Random Q-- Corporate Team Building Ideas

This sounds cheesy, and when you first say it they will think you are nuts, but what I've done is handed out a paper clip, and had the people work for two minutes in developing a list of "uses" for the paper clip. Then I have them get into small groups and try to develop a list of uses - inevitably the groups come up with a much longer list, proving that teamwork works. Chat Icon

I actually had one group come up with over 60 uses for the paper clip.

Re: Random Q-- Corporate Team Building Ideas

One that I did that I loved was that we were given a whole bunch of office/ craft supplies, string, paper clips, pipe cleaners, toothpicks, popsicle sticks etc to build a bridge. Everyone had to participate in some way and there also had to be a team leader elected by the group. We were given a 10 min time limit and at the end of the 10 min each group had to bring their bridge up to the front of the room to see if it was strong enough for a toy car to pass over. After that, we all voted on the best bridges based on design, etc.
