Random Thoughts About Children's Games
DH and I were shopping around this weekend looking at presents for his niece and nephew (6 and 10). I always try and get them gifts that have some purpose - books, arts and crafts projects, etc.
So - we were looking at board games because we're thinking of getting them some classic games and I felt like half of the games had a DVD portion to it.
This makes no sense to me - I feel that the point of sitting and playing a board game is to get your azz away from the TV for once. I think it's the last thing that kids in this generation need!
Thoughts?

Not to worry - some of the DVDs are full of some pretty funky dance moves.

Re: Random Thoughts About Children's Games
I agree. I went shopping for my grandson (his first Christmas) and there isn't anything out there that doesn't spin, light up, make sounds, speak, twirl or move in some fashion. Now, I haven't been in a toy store for quite awhile, but, IMO this is ridiculous. Whatever happened to using imagination or, in my grandson's case, developing and exploring the way his mother did? It seems that everything has to entertain children, instead, of children learning to entertain themselves.

Re: Random Thoughts About Children's Games
I played "Scene it" the Disney version with my niece a while ago when we were babysitting. In the answer to every single question was the phrase "Walt Disney's____"
For example, question: would be "what movie had two dogs on a date?" Answer: "Walt disney's Lady and the Tramp." It was so annoying and I felt like it was some sort of sick mind control over the kids.
