Rash around baby's eyes and mouth (with pic)
Did anyone's LO ever experience a rash around their eyes that came and went. Basically DD's eyelids get red and under her eyes - like in her bags. Sometimes she scratches at her eyes too. It comes and goes. It appears something is irritating her but have tried halting everything and no change. She does have eczema so am thinking it could just be that flaring up on her face. We have an rx for her body but told we cannot use it on her face.
Also she has a rash around her mouth that comes and goes. It does not always coincide with eye rash but sometimes it does. Again it could be eczema…will flair up for 4-5 days and then randomly disappear, only to show up again a few days later. I have tried Eucerin, Cerave, hydrocortisone and just straight up Vaseline but nothing helps. She drools like crazy and is teething so that doesnt help.
Anyway she is such a cute baby….but when these rashes flair up she looks terrible. Not sure what else I can do and doubt I can put an rx on her eyes anyway. Thoughts? Do you think I need to go back to the dr? I asked for something for her face and they said no there is nothing they will give and just do hydrocortisone. I also asked for a referral for ped dermatologist and they said it is not needed. This was back when the eczema was very bad all over her body but we now got that under control with the rx.
Also side note, I use Cetaphil on her face and body during baths. I was using J&J on her hair but stopped doing that. Maybe I should just rinse her face with water and skip the Cetaphil?? We also use ALL free and clear detergent and all cotton sheets. I am at a loss here.
Here is pic of her red eyes…

Here is mouth rash when it first appeared

And a patch of red on her cheek that is always there…sometimes it fades and other times it is bright red.

The rash around the mouth looks like what DS would get from drooling due to teething. I used aquaphor. I would provide a protective layer from the saliva.

The rash around her mouth looks like what ds would get from drooling. Finally one of the peds said it was a fungal infection. They gave us nystatin (spell ??) cream and it went away quickly. Not sure about around her eyes though. C
Good Luck she's adorable!

Could it be bad allergies?

Mouth looks like what my DD gets from drool as well. Put aquaphor on it a lot. It should clear up, don't know about the eyes either... And she is super adorable! Those blue eyes and long lashes!
Love the last pic - happy girl!

i would think it seems like an allergic reaction to something or some fungal infection.

Does she use a pacifier? The mouth thing looks like what my DD gets from drooling and using the pacifier. My doctor called it "pacifier mouth".
The cheek thing looked like eczema.
I have no idea about the eyes, but maybe allergies? Show that picture to your Dr! I never heard of eczema around the eyes...

My son has had these types of rashes on and off and for him they were food allergy related (contact dermatitis to banana of all things, and dairy allergy). He has and has had rashes on his cheeks/chin that came and went (MUCH better since stopping the banana hehe) and also sometimes on his eyelid margins as well. They were exacerbated by drooling/moisture. I think it is some type of excema related to atopy/contact dermatitis etc. Also we don't use any soap or creams on his face except aquafor ointment when he has a flare up. We use Mababa Baby Shampoo and Body Wash which is basically free of any allergens at all (he was sensitive to J&J, cetaphil, aveeno etc and would get rashy)

Around the mouth looks like a drool rash...but I think I'd go to the Ped based on the rash around the eyes. Might be allergies but I always like to play it safe and rule out anything more serious.

I agree with the OP's, the mouth looks like drool rash. G had it and Aquaphor helped. And around her eyes??? Id have to say allergies. Has the weather changed there at all? I would go back to the Dr. but, Im a worry wort and need peace of mind. She is still adorable even with a rash!!!

Re: Rash around baby's eyes and mouth (with pic)
Thx everyone. Ok to answer some questions…she does not use a pacifier so it's not that.
I do not think it is a food allergy either. I first noticed it when she started solids…sweet potatoes to be specific but I stopped sweet potatoes for a month and she still got the rash. So I cannot pinpoint exactly what it is. But yes maybe it is just drool or a fungal infection? And yes I have considered it is contact dermititis - maybe many things are irritating her skin?
I asked the dr. if she could have allergies and they said no it is too early. Is that true? I really think it is something irritating her face. I am going to stop Cetaphil for now and see if that helps. And I am washing her hair with water only so not chance of soap/shampoo touching her face.
Thx for the info on the allergen free baby shampoo and body wash. I am going to look into that! Where can you buy it? Everyone has been so helpful, I really appreciate it!

Re: Rash around baby's eyes and mouth (with pic)
Have you seen a Pediatric Dermatologist? My DSs face looked just like this until 1yr and a half yrs old. Dr Kristal helped him a lot. My DS was also diagnosed by Dr Streuss with multiple food allergies at 8 months old. He is now 2yrs old and his skin is much better! We use Unscented everything, gentle products. Vanicream 2x/day, humidifier in his room. RX Steroid cream as needed. You want to moisture with a product that alows the skin to "breathe"/let's moisture in. I also use Waxelebe as a diaper cream. Good luck!

Rash around baby's eyes and mouth (with pic)
My DS has eczema pretty bad on his torso, chest, face, etc. applying vaseline very regularly helped. He was also prescribed Zyrtec by an allergist which helps if he has a bad flare up. At 19 months, his skin is much better and he only gets an occassional flare up when we travel (which I think is linked to detergent...). He was also prescribed an anti itch cream but I don't use that on his face b
