Rash Question (with photo)

has anyone seen anything like this before? why does this stuff ALWAYS happen when we're coming to NY??????

it's in the creases of her arms and behind her knees. she is acting 100% normal, eating, pooping and peeing normally...

i'm going to bring an arsenal of creams & stuff with me - in case you suggest anything i have at home... i also have two prescription diaper rash creams i can bring too - one is nyastin cream and the other i don't know the name of...(it's on the cream thingy - but i don't know).

thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jess - I'm going to go out on a limb here...

You always she Em is a hot baby. This rash is in the creases? I'm wondering if she is sweating and this is some sort of prickly heat from the sweat?

hmm...is it itchy? or feel hot?
has she had any new foods recently, or new material?

being that it is in the creases of her arms and behind her knees..i wonder if it is a rash from possibly sweating? you know what i mean? like those areas can kind of trap moisture....i know that happen sometimes if i wear my sportsbra when working out, and i have sensitive skin.

hmm..maybe try some Desitin cream..i find that works for a lot.

Re: Rash Question (with photo)

What does it feel like?

Just based on the locations, I'm thinking that it is eczema.

ETA: 1% hydrocoristone and aquaphor should help.

Re: Rash Question (with photo)

Looks like prickly heat. My DS gets that on the side of the neck, the side he is always leaning against when we hold him.

Re: Rash Question (with photo)

last night was the first night we gave up on feety pj's for her & put her in a regular onesie - because she has woken up soooooooooooooooooooooooo sweaty in them. so maybe it is prickly heat.

it feels bumpy...does that make sense? like if i had tiny acne pimples - like that kind of feeling...

i have desitin packed and aquafor too...

it's only in the creases - nowhere else at the moment.

you girls rule my world! sincerely!

Re: Rash Question (with photo)

it looks like prickly heat, esp because its only in the creases. I would try the aquafor.Chat Icon

It also looks like prickly heat to me. DD would get it under her chin and neck area. You can try cornstarch to dry it up if she still sweats a lot.
Maybe put cornstarch at night and the aquaphor durning the day and keep her cooler durning the day.

Re: Rash Question (with photo)

My son gets that also. The doc said it was infant eczema. It looks a lot like prickly heat. I use 1% cortisone on it. Use very little and keep it dry.

maybe it's eczema?

hard for me to see on the picture - but DS gets eczema the worse in those areas - behind knees and in arms.

One of the most helpful things is for DS to wear 100% cotton clothing. Especially pajamas.

You can also try some baking soda in the bath.

hope that helps!!!

eczema fer sure. i've had it my entire life.

no synthetic or tight fitting clothing just cotton. bath her with as cool water as the baby can stand with an oatmeal bath or any fragrance & dye free soap, hot baths and showers make it worse. same for washing and drying her clothes, no dyes or fragrances.

try a mild hydrocortisone cream and see how that works.

good luck

okay - i have always used fragrance & dye free soap on her (california baby) and we've always used free & clear detergent (because i'm sensitive).

We have triple cream (which says it's for excema) - is that good ya think - or should we pick up the cortisone?

ironically, we brought Aveeno gentle bath stuff to bathe her tomorrow (friday).

thank you!!!!!

Re: Rash Question (with photo)

I've had excema for as long as I can remember, and those are my #1 flare up locations. It's definitely worse when I'm warm, probably the same for Emma! I agree with Kevin's advice as well. And I use aquaphor as a moisture barrier.
