Rashes & Dry Patches
My DD consistently has dry skin- we lube her up a couple times a day and she only gets bathed every 2 days. Even after putting some lotion/aquafor it still gets dry very quickly. Also i noticed she has red rash patches on her face which we are thinking is due to wiping her face with baby wipes but not sure. We also have been putting hydrocortisone on the rash but to no avail it is still there. Is there something I can use to combat all these things especially the red rash patches on her face (particularly the cheek areas on both sides)???
TIA!

Re: Rashes & Dry Patches
My poor DD has dry skin problems too. Her mommy and daddy have very sensitive, easily drying skin and her dad has eczema.
I only bathe her 2 times a week in the tub, the other days she gets a good washcloth bath.
My ped told me, we can use anything we use on ourselves since we are pros at dry sensitive skin.
On her face and body I use, Jergens Intense moisture lotion. It's a deep, fragrance free, non greasy moisturizer. Works better than the baby lotions, and lasts longer.
I only use baby aquafor on her coolie and deep dry patches like the creases of her ankles, arms.
I am tackling the patches on her forehead as we speak, i feel so bad for her she inherited our skins I am not looking forward to the winter. Dh and I dip ourselves in lotion in the winter, I can just imagine this poor baby
ETA: PED told me not to use wipes on her face or skin, no where but that coolie. Even the most sensitive ones are still very drying!

Julia has the same thing, she gets them on her legs a lot, I just put a little aquaphor on them when she gets out of the bath. I have to give her a bath every night cause we are in the sun a lot and I hate her going to bed with sunblock on, so I notice she's been getting more of the dry patches lately.

Re: Rashes & Dry Patches
Maddie had skin like that for the 2 years. Rash & dry patches on her legs, hands & arms. She also had very sensitive skin & would swell up if I put sunscreen on.
We started using the Aveeno baths or Dove Moisturizing body wash & shea butter moisturizer since Aquafor wasnt' working very well.
Her skin is perfectly normal & she doesn't hive up when we put sunscreen. I think her skin just needed to get used to air.
eta. also dont' use baby wipes on her face if you can avoid it. I used it on mine once & it stung.

Re: Rashes & Dry Patches
Brendan has very dry skin and eczema. We actually had to go to a prescription steroid cream to control the eczema. I tried every kind of lotion and cream and finally my pediatrician recommended Eucerin and also Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Healing lotion. The Eucerin made a HUGE difference in his skin. It's very thick, but once you rub it in it's not greasy at all like Aquaphor. Once I started using it, his skin started feeling soft like a baby's skin should feel instead of dry and coarse. The Vaseline stuff is also very good, but nothing has worked like the Eucerin. For baths, the best thing I've found is Gentle Naturals Eczema Wash. It's very moisturizing.

Emily has something that sounds very similar to what you described. She has eczema on her feet, legs, arms, hands. It isn't as bad as it used to be and we use Cetaphil or Aquafor for lotion and Avenno bath wash -- they make a special one for eczema.

We stopped using it and for the first time in months her eczema is back. She has it on her feet and it's taking a LOT of cream to clear up --- the DR actually prescribed her a lotion for it today but told me to only use it sparingly. I know I have to just keep up with the avenno bath wash and the cetaphil, and it'll go away soon enough. You have to be persistant. Even if you don't bathe for a day (I do about every 2-3 days) do the cetaphil every day reguardless, or whatever lotion works best for you!

Re: Rashes & Dry Patches
Hayley had dry patches on her cheeks and her arms. I was using Aveno Soothing Moisture Cream. It took a while but they went away. I did put a bit of hydrocortizone cream when they were really bad.
