Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

Which one have you bought furniture from & were you happy with the service and the furniture? What kind of furniture did you buy there?

We were looking this weekend and both places seem to be around the same prices. We did find some furniture we like, but before we decide, I wanted opinions about these places.

Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

We bought both our bedroom set (2005) & Our dining room (2007) from The Place...From the time of purchase to delivery, nothing but good customer service....Plus I thought their selection was more diverse & better...

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

We just bought furniture at Raymour & Flanigan's. It hasn't been delivered yet, but as far as the store goes, they were good to work with, gave us a good deal, price-wise. I can update you after we get our stuff!

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

My Mom recently bought couches at the Place and was very happy with them.

I have shopped at the R&F store but never purchased. At the one where I live, I just really disliked some of the tactics of the sales people.

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

We just bought a couch from The Place, we should be receiving it in about 4 weeks. We are going to order our bedroom set from Raymour next week (after we go to closing). I think both places are good, what I like better about Raymour is their delivery time - we should have our bedroom set delivered in about a week after ordering it opposed to our couch which we won't receive until 6-8 weeks after we ordered it.

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

I purchased my dining room set from the place and it took over a year and 8-tables later to get one that was good... there customer service and management team was terrible....

I purchased a couch from Raymour and Flanigan and I had it delivered in 3-business days - GREAT customer service... And when I was looking I needed a recliner and they didnt have exaclt what i wanted so the sales person/manager let me take one of there pillows from the couch we pruchased with me to goto other stores to shop for a recliner..

For me - I would NEVER buy from The Place again....

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

I have two friends that have had terrible issues with The Place. Both times, the BBB became involved and neither friend was completely satisfied with the resolution. I personally would stay away.

We ordered our couch through R&F- the delivery was a nightmare. Long stiory short, they came to deliver at 1 AM ( yes 1 in the morning) , and they scratched the furniture on the way in. When we called to complain, they sent someone over to fix it, he said he couldn't , so R&F said we had to pick out a new couch b/c they were unable to get it through our door. Our door is actually larger than most -that was a crock of sh!t.
I do have to say in their defense, their customer service was good, they stayed at the office and kept us updated onteh delivery people, and they sent us a $100 gc. I doubt I'd use them again.

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

We have our bedroom and living room furniture from R&F, they were great with customer service, delivery, everything. The only experience I have with the Place is that we were totally ignored in both their 110 and Westbury locations. I don't know if the salespeople thought we looked young or what, we walked in the door, ignored and then an older couple walked in behind us and they were immediately asked if they needed help. We walked around the store, had questions about stuff and no one wanted to help us. So guess what, they didn't get our business. And it was so strange because going to a furniture store you usually get pounced on right away.

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

We purchased our bedroom set from The Place and got a much better price than at RF. We had to postpone delivery to finish some remodeling and things got a little touchy when we were finally ready and they said they gave our set to another customer who was ready to accept delivery. Luckily their next shipment was only 2 weeks away so everythin worked out. We love our set and get lots of compliments. It looks way more expensive than it was.

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

I haven't bought from either, but personally I would not buy from the Place. Someone I know has purchased several pieces and it seems like there have been damages on every piece that gets delivered.

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

I have gotten a couple things from Raymour and they were great both times. We even saved $100 delivery charge by picking it up in Farmingdale.

I have been to The Place and they have a great selection, but their merchandise doesnt seem as high quaility as the vendors that Raymour carries. Just my opinion!
ETA: we bought an entertainment center in 2005 and an upholstered ottoman last month.

Re: Raymour & Flanigan vs. The Place

We bought a new sleeper sofa and a beautful dining room set from R & F. Love them, loved the service and the delivery was great. i will go back there again for any future purchases. My MIL bought some furniture, there, as well and she is the one who sent us over. This was all in the last couple of months.
