Let's just say you were 8 minutes late to a hair appointment for highlights, trim and blow-dry. As you are parking your car on the side street next to the salon your stylist of 2 years (also the owner that you tip) calls you and asks where are you. When you tell her crossing the street to walk in she says I can't take you my next appointment will be here in 2 min (when I booked she told me I was her last appt. of the day). I told her I would skip getting a trim and blowout but still pay since I was late but she just apologized and said no.
I know I was late and they work on a structured schedule but the trim and blowout takes more than 10 minutes. I was so mad considering I have shown up on time every other time and had to wait 10-15 minutes and I never complain. This happened the other day and I am bitter every time I have to look at my roots.
So would you find a new salon or reschedule and just make sure you don't get stuck on the LIE? I don’t know if I am being foolish because again it was my fault but I just think it’s a load of BS that 8 minutes really messed her up that much considering I would have left with wet hair.

I would find a new place.... it doesn't even make any sense. Was she going to do your roots in 8 minutes? Sounds like she wanted to leave work early....

8 minutes late? Please, I've had places make me wait 10-15 minutes AFTER my appointment was supposed to start. If she thinks she could have gotten your roots done, a trim, and blowout done in 8 minutes then she is delusional. I would most definitely find a new place. Who needs to be treated that way?

8 minutes isn't enough to cancel an appt. ridiculous!

I dont know, my girl, if Im just going in for a touch up, takes someone else in the middle of my appt while the color is taking.
So in theory it could really throw her off. If she expected to have your roots touched up and taking by 10 mins after, then her appt would come in, maybe just for a quick trim or whatever (I dont know how long you sit with your touch up while it takes). Then she would go back to when your time was up to rinse out your roots and finish your hair cut.
If thats the case, than the 2nd appt would have to wait, which isnt fair to that person or she would take her first, then start you and that could make her day run like a half hour longer since she now has two separate appts instead of two that overlapped?

8 min late is not thaaat bad, and there's no way she could've had another client coming in 2 minutes - if she did that's her fault for double booking!
see how she responds and then tell her that because of it, you're forced to look for a new stylist.
If she apologizes with enough sincerity then give it one more try. If not, then cut your losses and find someone else

When she called me she was trying to reschedule but because I work until 5:30 and have another job on Saturday we couldn't figure something out so I just told her I would call back.
I dread looking in the mirror after I get out of the shower. Besides the obvious reasons I also have these crazy grey wirey hairs that stick up like crazy on my head. Seeing them makes me so bitter.

If you reallllllllly like her, I'd call to make a new appointment, and explain how confused you were about what happened. Making sure to point out that you've never been late before, and have had to wait for your appointment in the past. I'd even let her know you were considering looking for a new salon because of the way you were treated, but wanted to give her one last chance.
See what she says and then decide.
I only say to give her another chance because I think finding a hair stylist you like is like finding a gynecologist you like.....really hard to find, and once you do, you don't want to have to switch!

I have no idea if thats what occurred or not, just throwing out another possible scenario. Hope you get your roots done soon, one way or the other, LOL!

i dont know...im not attached to a stylist so i would just find another place.

Hmmmm if you *really* like her otherwise I'd say reschedule; give her a pass if you're otherwise happy with her and the work she does. Maybe she had to leave, maybe something was going on you don't know about, whatever. So give her a pass for this one time and see how it goes on your next few visits. But definitely remove her from your Christmas Card list. Definitely

thats weird. I know if I am going to be more than say 5 minutes late, I try to call. But only 8 minutes late and having gone there for 2 years, they should value your business more. Unless they really are amazing stylists, I'd probably try to find another place.

i see your point here. my salon will do a haircut while my highlights take. Im usually just sitting waiting for them to take for half an hour. So I guess it really could have just thrown her off. But 8 minutes also isn't that much time. If it had been say 20 minutes I could see the problem. But I guess its hard to tell their side of the situation.

The other thing is that I could see if SHE was NEVER late for an appointment, then she really runs a tight ship. But since you have had to wait for HER, then really how strict could her timing be? It's kind of hypocritical, don't you think?
