RE and Fertility clinics
How did you decide which one to use?
My cousin used Weill Cornell in the city and they have a very high success rate. The one I am going to at the end of the month doesn't have as good of a success rate with IVF.
I am jumping the gun a bit. I don't even know if I have to do IVF. I just thought I would ask some of you ladies.
Weill cornell does twice as many IVF than mine. Maybe there's success in volume as well.

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
I actually asked questions and read a lot on this board about my different choices and went from there.

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
Personally, I think stats are important. One it came time for IVF, I wanted a doctor in a big practice where there were lots of opinions and tons of patients. I wanted to be sure that they'd seen it all, KWIM? But some people are definitely different.
Either way, good luck to you!

ITA! You can look at the stats on the CDC website. They are not current as of 2008 though (I think it's either 2004 or 2005). But it can give you an idea.
I'm at my current place after recommendations from my OB who was recommended to me by another LIFer here in NJ that used both practices. They also have impressive stats, and amazing doctors and tons of reasearch awards.

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
For my RE in St. Louis, where I did my first cycle, I got a referral from my OB/GYN and then read about him on a local support board.
For here, in NY, I got a referral from a friend and then did research.
I looked at the CDC stats each time but didn't let it influence my decision too much. The stats don't tell you everything. Some clinics take harder cases than others and therefore don't have as good stats. Some clinics specialize in different types of IF and my have higher or lower success rates because of that.
Ultimately, I made sure I was comfortable with who I chose and their staff.

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
I also picked my RE based on success rates. We knew we were dealing with MF so I wanted to go to a place that specialized in it and had a high success rate.

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
I chose my RE based upon recommendations from this board and the fact that my insurance company considers them a center of excellence. One of their offices is also close to my job and I knew there would be lots of appointments so that was an important factor. I strongly recommend choosing a doctor that is convenient to your work and/or home. If you get involved with treatments there are many early morning appointments. BTW, I go to LI IVF. HTH!

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
I work in NYC..my boss is very cool and flexible..i would prefer to do this closer to home.
I have an appt with Dr. Sung at Reproductive Specialists in Mineola. I looked them up and their stats are not as good as North Shore or Cornell..
I really don't have time to wait that long. I want to make sure I use this time and money wisely.
I am going to make that appt and see what they say.

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
Honestly, we went with the recommendation from my OB/GYN's office and the proximity to our home.

Re: RE and Fertility clinics
You could also look on IVFconnections.com and check their IVF by location and get lots of feedback. We went with our gut after having 4 consults and are happy with the results
