re-post....BTDT mom's, come in and help!!!
I'll start by saying I'm 34 weeks preggo.
So I ended up in the L&D section of the hospital yesterday (Saturday) around 8:30am. I was having cramping (which I thought was gas but turned out to be contractions) and brown staining (which totally freaked me out but turned out to be part of my mucus plug...TMI, I know). I also felt like there was a decrease in baby movement. Scariest moment of my life when they hooked up the baby heart monitor....thank God his little heart was beating like a champ. They said it was brought on by dehydration...so they hooked me up to an IV and gave me a bunch of fluids. They told me I was contracting but didn't really feel them. 3 hrs later they sent me home. I napped, drank lots of water and had dinner.
By 11pm that same night, I was feeling strong contractions in my lower back. Freaking out, I again called the OB and she sent me back to L&D. They gave me another IV and when they didn't go away, they gave me 2 shots of Terbutaline to stop them and sent me home with a script to take it orally for another week.
So.....my questions are....has anyone else had this happen? Do you ever stop feeling jittery on these meds? Are there risks to the baby from taking these meds? Since yesterday AM, I still am having brown staining (parts of mucus plug) coming out....when does that stop? I'm so afraid my little guy is going to come too early!!
I know I had more questions when I started typing this......but I guess I'll add them as I remember them

Re: re-post....BTDT mom's, come in and help!!!
Yes at about 35 weeks pregnant. I was having cramp like pains all day. At first I thought it was gas but after a couple of hours of constant almost rhythmic cramping I called the doctor. He said as a precaution to go into L&D. They hooked me up to the monitor and said I was having contractions.
My due date had been switched a couple times and I was either 34 or 35 weeks pregnant. Well the nurse there told me to get comfortable because at35 weeks they don't stop the contractions. I freaked! They called my doc and he said to stop the contractions it was too early for me to have the baby. I ended up having a UTI that caused the uterus to start contractiong. They gave me that shot ( I don't remember the name) twice. It made my heart race! They sent me home 2 hours later. I felt a little weak for a day or two.
Well thank god they held off my baby boy lasted another 4 weeks in there!
I hope that helps!FM me if you have anymore questions. Good Luck.

Read the link I am posting. When I was just about 35 weeks I spent 8 days in the hospital. They stopped my labor and I ended up delivering a beautiful healthy baby 5 days before my due date. I was afraid that everything they gave me would have a big effect on the baby but he was born totally healthy and will be a year in 2 weeks with no problems at all! I know it's hard but try not to worry too much and get lots of rest...Good Luck!

I don't have much info on stopping contractions. I just wanted to give you some hugs.
If this helps any, I delivered my son at 34.5 weeks. He's now healthy, obnoxious pre-schooler.

Re: re-post....BTDT mom's, come in and help!!!
At 35 weeks I was getting dizzy and seeing spots so I reluctlantly went to L&D. Turned out I was contracting every 2 mins without even knowing it and they gave me two shots of Terbetuline. That stuff definitely makes you jittery but I really don't think it has any effect on baby... my little munchkin ended up delivering the day after my due date, so I wouldn't worry TOO much. Your body is just starting to prep for the big day... many women also start losing their plug and don't deliver for several weeks, so try to relax! Just don't push yourself the next week weeks... and if you DO deliver, it's ok, plenty of babies deliver at 35+ week and come out just fine!

So sorry you have to go through this
I had 2 shots of terbuline in the hospital at 26 weeks for pre term labor as well. I was sent home, with no explanation to why, and told to rest and they would prob see me again in a couple days. And I did, I went back in 2 days later with pains, and was given a script and put on part time bedrest.
The shots made me soo jittery, like having too much coffee.
What dose of Terbuline did they give you? I was on 2mg's, they didn't make me jittery at all, i was a little shaky the first couple days on them, then i guess my body got use to them.
Terbuline is an asthma drug, from what I read and was told, there is no harm to the baby done, since this med is a class b drug. The terbuline will act to relax your uterus, just like it does for asthma when the lungs contract. Hopefully they will slow the contractions so your little one can cook for a couple more weeks.
I was on it for 10 weeks. They took me off at 36 weeks, and I gave birth at 39 weeks.
Your mucous plug regenerates itself, so you may not have this baby just yet. Please just rest, relax and drink lots of water.
Are you dilating or effacing?
Please FM me if you need to talk, vent

Re: re-post....BTDT mom's, come in and help!!!
Thank you all sooooo much!!
The contractions have completely stopped!!! They have me on 2.5mg every 6 hrs. I called the DR this AM to say how much I hate how the meds make me feel. He said to change it to every 8 hrs and that he wants to see me today instead of waiting for my appt on wed.
I'll keep you updated.
Thanks again for all the kind words and 's
