RE: Robbery in my house last year

Hi ladies! I don't know who remembers when I was robbed last year, but this is about the guys (teenagers) who robbed me. One of the guys has been in prison since they robbed us almost a year ago. The other guy was never sent to prison. The guy in prison gets out in February. I am starting to get really scared about him getting out. I'm starting to feel like we were robbed all over again. I have that unsafe violated feeling. I mean this past year I've still been scared but knowing he was in prison helped. We do have a security system now, but I still don't feel safe. My DH works at night 3-5 days a week so I'm by myself with a 2.5 yr old and a newborn. I don't even get home from work and daycare until after it's dark. I'm so scared that they're going to come back to hurt us physically. Going to and from the house is such a project by myself that it would be real easy for someone to come up behind me. I'm always looking and watching but it could still happen. I'm so afraid that me, or one of my boys is going to get hurt! I know it wasn't our doing for them to get caught. They did it to themselves, but I still feel like they'll come back because we were the last one's they robbed and it was my DH who spoke in court. Please, what can I do?

OMG, I am sorry what happened to you and your family, I can only imagine how scared you are. You said that you have a security system now, keep it on even when you are home so if anyone tries to come in the police will be called immediatly. Its a shame that these people were not put in jail for much longer. I dont think these people would be stupid enough to come back. They probably robbed so many houses they dont even remember where the houses are or that DH was associated with your house. Although it will be hard to ever forget what happened, you cant live your life scared every moment.

When DH & I were robbed last May, the first thing the cop said was to get some very visible cameras for outside the house, at the driveway, etc. He said that these "guys" (using a generic not gender term here) would not want to be caught n camera, especially if they already have a conviction. They are relatively cheap & can be purchased at radio shack. Also sensor lights are great too.

Lightening does not strike the same place twice.....neither will a criminal. If they have been caught then odds are they will find someone else to go after. Chat Icon

Okay that was not cheerful but my DH is a Sociology major and my BF is a Psychologist... I think they are wearing off on me.

I remember you posting and it must be a terrifying experience. If the fear of the guy coming back again is so strong then I would definitely look into CCTV. My sister had problems with kids in her neighborhood and they had a cheap monitoring system installed which worked beautifully. It was a small price to pay for their peace of mind.

I'm so sorry that you fear like this. I can understand how you feel.

If its any consolation and I was going through this, I would honestly have a camera installed on the outside of my house. It would put my mind very much at ease.......ALOT!

In the meantime, here are some hugs for you. I know its a horrible feeling and you can't help but be afraid that they will come again, even though those chances are quite, quite slim.
