? Re: tap water mixing w/powdered formula..
The formula container says powdered formula is not sterile anyway, so why can't we use regular tap water (not filtered, not boiled)?? Sorry if its a dumb question!!

We did when we used powder. Just had a Pur filter on the kitchen faucet.

Good question. Don't know the answer though. But we just use bottled water, b/c that's what I drink anyway.

I didn't because we don't even give our dog tap water so Andrew was def getting bottled water too.

That is because tap water may have high nitrate levels which pose a risk to infants because they may cause methemologlobinemi a condition known as “blue baby.”

Re: ? Re: tap water mixing w/powdered formula..
I'm not sure why but I figured it is easy enough to filter the water. My pediatrician said that we can use the water from the spout on our refrigerator door as long as there is a filter in there. She also said that a Britta is fine. I have been using Ready to Feed formula so far but I hope to try powder at some point.

Re: ? Re: tap water mixing w/powdered formula..
Usually, I have a boiled teapot of water on the stovetop that I use all day, but sometimes I forget to boil fresh water for the day, so I just use the tap water...I don't see the big deal.

Re: ? Re: tap water mixing w/powdered formula..
I use bottled. The pipes could have lead in them or the water could have nitrates. My ped. said if I was using tap, then to boil it first. I'm too lazy to boil water so I just buy Poland Spring.

Re: ? Re: tap water mixing w/powdered formula..
I sterlize my tap water, but my ped said that if I want to use bottled water that I sould sterilize that as well since sometimes we don't know where its coming from.
I boil water in a tea kettle and then I pour that water into a big jug that I have and use it as I need it.

Re: ? Re: tap water mixing w/powdered formula..
When DS was first born, I'd either boiled or bottled water b/c we lived int he city.
We now use boiled water or tap water or I warm the bottle in the microwave, which is like boiling it (to me anyway )
Honestly though, tap water is WAY more regulated than bottled water
