Re-visiting the Shake-A-Paw issue
Thursday night we were dropping Cooper off at West Hills Animal Hosp. in Huntington to be boarded for the weekend (Cooper is a Shake-A-Paw puppy and when, like everyone else, he got very sick when we took him home, we rushed him to West Hills so the visit would be covered by SAP). While we were there, the waiting room was packed and by this time, they were emergency visits (after a certain hour, scheduled visits end and they only take emergency visits). A woman and her son come in with this very young English Bulldog who was so sick and I overheard her saying that he is from SAP. I asked the receptionist how many SAP puppies they see a day... she looked over to were all of the people were sitting waiting to be seen or waiting for their dogs... she said all of those people were SAP puppies. I was so sad and so disgusted. It just goes to show you how terrible that place really is and how badly they need to be shut down.

Shake-A-Paw is a pet store that sells puppies... they have an "agreement" with West Hill Animal Hosp. that the buyers first visit will be paid for by Shake-A-Paw... That's all well and good, but what about the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 15th visit because they sold me a puppy mill dog?

Re: Re-visiting the Shake-A-Paw issue
As they are the "designated" vet for SAP I stopped going to them.
It is unfortunate as they have some good vets, but they perpetuate the SAP drama by "giving" free care as part of the sales pitch....

The way I look at it is that they know how horrible SAP is and the condition the dogs are in and are willing to take those dogs in so that they get the best treatment possible... because West Hills really is a state-of-the-art facility and I guarentee that if we didn't rush Cooper there the day after we got him from SAP, he probably wouldn't be alive.

Re: Re-visiting the Shake-A-Paw issue
Dont even get me started about Shake-A-Paw. That is where my Rocky is from and I had to sue them. I wound up spending over $10,000 on him in vet bills since we got him 5 yrs. ago. He had hernias removed, liver biopsy b/c he has a liver disease and continuous blood tests to monitor his condition. I dont understand how that place hasn't been shut down...but it's obviously b/c suckers like me buy their dogs b/c we feel bad.
