Real estate course and getting started

SO, I have been thinking about taking this course for a while and doing it online. I would not leave my FT position but am wondering if this is something you can realistically start off doing PT? If it became something I know would turn into a FT salary I would consider leaving my present job because I just LOVE real estate and have a real interest in it as corny as that sounds. Has anyone ever moved into becoming a Realtor from another line of work and been successful at it? What about doing PT? Just curious, TIA......

I currently do it part time and love it. I always say it is great but I couldn't imagine counting on it to pay my bills.

I am going to start out part-time

until I can put enough money aside to cover 6 months of expenses-- then I am going to go full time

I don't know why I didn't think of this before

my Dad actually owned his own RE company - and he never left his teaching job

I wouldn't say he did RE part time- b/c he got to the office daily around 2pm and worked all weekend

but he did very well back in the 80s and was able to walk away when the market tanked- he retired at 53- put 3 kids thru college, 3 weddings etc- this would not have been possible with out him doing RE

I am going to take my final today- the online course took me about a month-
