Really embarrassing TMI question for ladies pregnant with #2 or more...
We all know that bladder control leaves alot to be desired when pregnant....
Here's my question:
After your first DC was born, did you go back to having a "normal" bladder?
After DD was born, I never did. I swear I always need to be wearing a liner or a thin pad because whenever I sneeze, cough, or even laugh to hard, I loose a little bladder control
Now that I'm pregnant again, it's REALLY bad. Especially right now as I'm getting over a really bad resipitory infection and when I cough...well...my bladder has a mind of it's own. Seriously, this whole week, I've had to wear a thicker pad and if I feel a cough attack coming, I need to race for the bathroom.
I'm worried that this is going to be my life forever.
I'm wondering if I should bring this up to my OB at my next appointment and get a referral for a urologist for after the baby is born.
Has anyone ever experienced this, or am I just a freak?

i didnt notice an issue in between pregnancies but from early on with this pregnancy, sneezing and coughing is dangerous i think its pretty common.

I haven't been able to sleep thru the night without peeing since DD was born. I didn't have accidents post pregnancy. But now, with this pregnancy, I have had a few when I was puking or coughing (I had bronchitis for a little while). Just small accidents, but still.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I had ZERO bladder control the first few weeks after DD was born. It gradually came back, but shortly after I got pregnant it more or less vanished.
I wear something every day because I just can't take a chance. I sneeze too often.

I had that problem after I had my first but it did go away after a while. It's back now that I'm pregnant with #2.

I have read that this has to do with the strength of your pelvic floor muscles. You can exercise them by doing kegels.
Look into it, HTH

Re: Really embarrassing TMI question for ladies pregnant with #2 or more...
oh yes, this is happening to me as well.
After DS - 2 years ago - I have not been the same. It took me almost a year to even be able to jog again... it was BAD.
It has gotten better since DS... but now that I am pg again, everytime I cough, I pee a little.
Not sure if this is something we should talk to our doctors about. I know my midwifes will yell at me to do my kegels! Really, that's probably what we need to do right now. They've suggestsed doing them every time I wash my hands, or every time I stop at a red light. Another midwife suggested I pee, then stop, pee, then stop, etc. every time I use the bathroom.
Are you worried at all about delivering #2? Im nervous I won't have the strength.

I was shocked at how soon this problem started with this pregnancy. It was the worst when I was sick.

Re: Really embarrassing TMI question for ladies pregnant with #2 or more...
thanks for the warning! after my 1st it took awhile to get back to semi normal. I still have "issues" when i have a sneezing fit, or a few months ago when I had a stomach bug. What a glorious feeling to be throwing up and peeing at the same time - GROSS! I'm only 6 weeks along right now but haven't had any accidents just yet, but now i'll know to be on the defensive!

I feel like it was worse with #1 then it is now, but no - it never really went back to normal in between pregnancies.
