Really stupid policy regarding personal time
At my company, you receive 3 personal days upon 1 year of work. I happened to recieve mine around 12-22-09, I started 12-15-08. I saw that my personal time disappeared on my paystubs, and then last week I recieved an extra sum of money in my paycheck. When I questioned by boss we spoke w/HR and basically, all personal time must be used by 12-24 of each year, or you lose it because it cannot roll over.
Basically, I had a 2 day window to use 3 days, and since I did not, I was paid out for those days! I was actually planning to use those days for my upcoming wedding! Everyone was sympathetic and agreed that it was silly, but I just seem to get screwed out of my days because of my hire date and I will apparently be paid out for them regardless. They did say they would advance me the days for my wedding because they felt bad but come one, this just makes NO sense to me

Yes I am thankful for that at least and I wouldn't have minded so much if I wasn't saving them for my wedding.

not sure when your wedding was but it sounds like you wouldn't get them the following year anyway so it doesnt matter, no?

I'm not ever getting them period. As a courtesy they will advance me my days for my wedding in September but every year I will not have 3 personal days and I will get them paid out.

Thats a really poor policy. It sounds like it wasn't complely thought out. Did you ask about future years? They will probably always advance you the time.
