Really super dumb cereal question

Since I am new to this whole mothering thing I had a question about cereal. I went today to get Lukie some cereal. I wanted to get the organic Gerber but since it was recalled there was none on the shelf... THEN I looked at the Nature one (cant remember the name drawing a total blank!!) but it was whole grain and I remember something about single grains when they are first starting out on cereal (yes Lukie is 6 months and we just started solids although he has had apple sauce already). So I put that back and picked up the Gerber DHA/ARA single grain rice cereal (would oatmeal have been better??). Now to my question... since I am EBF and he already getting the DHA/ARA from me there is no such thing as too much of that is there??

I was BF when DD was taking cereal and our ped. said start with Barley, then go to barley and then Oatmeal.

They say to start with Rice, then barley, then oatmeal. The rice was too binding and they never liked the barley so I went to oatmeal.

Ryan is going to be 4 months soon and the doc already has him on cereal since he is gaining so much and I went right to oatmeal

I started DS with rice, but it was binding, so we just switched to oatmeal this week and he likes that way better.

I just use the regular Gerber oatmeal.

But I don't think there is such a thing as too much DHA/ARA or whatever. They put it in formula now too...which we mix with the cereal.

You don't have to start with rice. You can start with oatmeal. That's what I plan to do.
