Re: realtor question
You can work with as many realtors as you like. I tend to go all over with my buyers because I end up becoming friendly with them and want to make sure they are in a good home - but some agents want to stay specific to certain areas.
So yes, you can do whatever you want.

Re: realtor question
Yes, it's perfectly reasonable, just make sure you DO NOT tell either R/E agent that you're also working with someone else.

Re: realtor question
Absolutely, especially if she doesn't work in the particular areas that you are looking for. I'm surprised since most realtors that I have ever worked with will go just about anywhere.
It's a business and you're in the business to buy.

Re: realtor question
I'm all for working with a realtor who specializes in the area you are looking at. I think it's important.

Me too.
Out of all the realtors we worked with we really loved one of them...I'm so upset that he had no clue about the area we decided to buy in.

Re: realtor question
If you like your realtor and respect her opinion, you could ask if she can recommend someone in the area you are interested in seeing. Many will--usually someone who works for the same company, but at least you have a better chance of getting someone decent.
If you didn't sign anything with the first realtor, you are under no obligation to work only with her. Some people higher realtors to work for them, the buyer. But if you didn't get into contracts, she is really working for the seller.
