Realtor recommendations (for seller) - South Shore Nassau County
Looking for someone who is honest, hard-working, and is going to treat my listing as a priority, even though it is a townhouse and not a detached home.
South Shore Nassau experience a plus. Someone who has been successful with their own listings in the current marketplace is a necessity. We are realistic, motivated sellers. My husband is being relocated for work and we cannot carry two mortgages.

Kara my agent was amazing and I used a few before finding him!! he has experience all over the island

His office is based out of smithtown but he will come to you to do everything.
I wouldn't reccomend everyone in that office as I just heard a women there wasn't doing so well for someone else, but he was AWESOME!!!! I will never use anyone else. so fair and never pushed us into anything, always asked us what we thought, and was more then fair!! No drama at all, and our sellers were tough!!

yes! we were buyers but i would recommend her to anyone selling, honest and great overall realtor, i wish we would have met her sooner in our seach, her name is mary jane mcmahon gerth, at century 21 (516) 826-2000 in wantagh. she lives in wantagh so she is familiar with the south shore area (we ended up buying in seaford). Good luck!

We used Don Scanlon of Century 21 in Wantagh, he was excellent, and I think he is part owner of the agency. he just sent us a flag LOL what a great guy

He teaches at LIBOR- I really liked him
just not a huge fan on C21

Does your DH's company offer relocation assistance? For my DH they not only found the realtor but they also pay for the difference for any loss on the property or they would buy him out if it did not sell within x amount of time.

The house is already listed and on MLS. We are considering going with a realtor, though, instead of doing it ourselves. The house is also advertised on LIF - just click on my profile.

Kara,
Interview multiple Realtors in your area. I wouldn't recommend using a Realtor beyond a 5 mile radius. You want the expert in your area. A Realtor that lives close by and knows the schools and community. Two suggestions I always give to sellers is always use a full time Realtor. Part time in this market is hard to juggle.
Get a performance agreement. Most realtors want a 6 month listing. This is fine but remember they are working for you and you are paying them a more than fair amount. Get everything they are going to do in writing:
marketing plan, open house dates, weekly communication, set up showings, your lead time requirements for showings.
Knowing everything upfront makes for a smoother sale.
