Recieving services
Hi! My daughter just turned 4 and is attending a 1/2 day integrated program. She had been there for 1year. Her diag. is PDD-NOS. Her IEP entitiles her to the program 1/2 day 5x per week, OT 1x 30 (1:1)min week, and speech 3x week (1:1). I also take her to private speech 1x a week 1:1 through insurance. Now here's the problem.... My daughter makes amazing progress w/ her private speech therapist (I sit in on session). At school, not so much. I know for a fact that she is not recieving 1:1 3x per week. I have addressed it in the past and they presented to me that they incorporate the speech lesson into the class setting through stories, play, etc... Occasionally, she is pulled out 1:1 but it is very rare. I can't tell you HOW MUCH progress is made in 1 30 min session privately. I know what she needs and her IEP is not being met. Actually, they r in violation. Don't get me wrong, all of her teachers there happen to be great, sweet, etc. However, The services are not being delivered as istated on her IEP. I Have scheduled a team meeting with her teacher and therapists to discuss this and her Quaterly progress report, which I saw CRAZY fluctuations with(as far as what she DOES at home and DOESN't do at school). I know they probably think I am annoying, and as an educator, I know that you kind of have to ***** (unfortunately) to sometimes get what you deserve. I ALWAYS fear that they r going to take it out on my DD, I know it's silly but NO ONE likes to be questioned about there teaching and I am so nervouse on how to go about the meeting. Sorry soo long...Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!!!

Re: Recieving services
If is is written on her IEP at 1:1 speech, then that is what she SHOULD get. Dont they realize it is a legal document. Is she is a private school? I would call your district.

Re: Recieving services
If it is written in her IEP to get 1:1 speech then that's what she should be getting. Call your district and let them know immediately. Also I would check to make sure that her in school speech is for a "pull out" - that they are taking out of class and not a push in - where the therapist would come into the class.
My DD has 2x pull out and 1x push in for her speech. The push in was specifically set up for conversational speech with her peers.
