Recipes using frozen shrimp
I don't eat shrimp but DH does. I'd like to start making some simple but yummy recipes using some frozen shrimp we have. Any ideas? I have never worked with frozen shrimp and am clueless!

Re: Recipes using frozen shrimp
thaw the shrimp according to the directions on the pack. then you would use them as you would any cooked shrimp. or just set it out with dipping sauces for shrimp cocktail

Frozen shirmp is good for stir frys or fried rice or in red or scampi sauces over pasta or rice. You can also use it in a paella with chicken and chorizo. Shirmp salad too. Not good for frying, bbq'ing or broling without sauce. Use fresh for that.

I'm assuming it's raw. I defrost in cold water which takes just a few minutes and then peel them.
I like to saute some onion and garlic, then add bell peppers, tomatoes, lemon zest. I add some white wine and or stock, add in baby spinach and then the shrimp. They cook very quickly and you don't want to over do them. I squeeze on fresh lemon juice and season with old bay, dill, salt and pepper, and whatever else sounds good. I throw in some feta at the end and serve over rice. DH isn't a shrimp fan but he does eat this dish.

Is the frozen shrimp raw or cooked? How big are the shrimp (what is the number per pound on the bag)? You can use either in recipes, but cooking time will vary. Very important bc you don't want to overcook it. I defrost frozen shrimp in a colander under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towels. Our favorites are grilled shrimp (marinate, then thread on skewers with veggies) and oven shrimp scampi (lots of recipes on line, basically shrimp baked in a butter/lemon/garlic/wine sauce)
