Recommend an endo.
My dh has type 1 diabetes. Has had it for about 5 yrs. he is o no in control of it and I think the people he sees are very casual. He needs a tough dr ho will get him on track. Not just listen. His pod even broke and he's very casual about it.

I also know some of the local hospitals do support groups for diabetics.
Not sure if he would be into this though.

My dad and my sister use Dr. Sussman which is near you. I think she is in Ronkonkoma. I have to say she is awesome for my dad. Whenever he is in the hospital (even if it is not diabetes related) she ALWAYS comes by. I know there is a problem with getting appointments with her though. But he has worked with her a long time, and quite frankly, my father is not an easy case for her.

She is in Smithtown now and she is awesome but very hard to get an appointment with.

I am a type 1 diabetic. I go to Naomi berrie center in the city. it is a diabetes center which is part of Columbia Presbyterian. It is great - they are no joke over there.

Dr. Jardine is awesome - shes very thorough and I know a few diabetics that have switched to her and have improved greatly.
