Recommend mattress for crib conversion

Recommend mattress for crib conversion
DS's crib converts to a full size bed. We are thinking about converting it in the next few months. What type of mattress should I be looking for? I assume it should be firm and not plush. We don't want to spend a lot of money on it.
Any mattress recommendations are appreciated.

Firm is usually recommended for kids. Big Lots has some good prices, but not much selection. We just got a new mattress from there for DS a few weeks ago. We got his original twin mattress from Bob's, and after 4 years, it was really showing its age... You can always take DS to a mattress store, like Sleepy's, and see what he likes, but you're probably not going to get a true opinion on a mattress until they are at least 8 years old.

Thanks. I guess we'll just head to Sleepy's and find something affordable. I definitely stay away from Bob's.

We got DS's full bed from Sleepy's, and he loves it. The salesperson recommended the Sleepy's brand (generic). We're going to get DD the same bed when we're ready to redo her room.
